There is no choke on an '84 6000. The engine has throttle body injection, quite modern for its time. Chokes are only necessary on carburetors.

My choke light stays on my 84 pontiac trans am. Why does this occurr and how can i fix this problem?

I bevieve that year is 305 or 350 with Throttle body injection so remove air cleaner cover start car allow to warm up then see if plate below main injector opens when engine is revved ..if it does then be sure it is partially open at idle .. check wiring underside of air cleaner / loose / heat damaged -----Or if Aftermarket air cleaner then unplugged wires from factory must be looped to create all ok signal .....The Throttle plate at base of unit or old style carb can wear creating unstable idle or choke light signal due to inconsistant air flow ..

My choke light stays on while i drive my 84 firebird trans am. Why does it do that and how can i make it go away?

the choke light will come on when the choke is on i assume its electric choke if the choke is on vehicle would run poorly flood out and stall if vehicle runs fine then its in the electrics of the choke switch or a bad wire to the choke that says its on even when its not i would start there first.

How do you check an automatic choke

It depends on the vehicle. Some or all manufacturers have a specific procedure for testing the choke and all its linkages and controls. But just observing your choke in operation from a cold engine (choke butterfly valve barely open) to a warm engine (choke valve fully open) should give you a good idea of how well it works. The electric assist on chokes is mainly for opening the choke a biy sooner than the mechanical operation of heating the spring inside the black choke housing, causing it to expand and open the choke valve.

Heater not blowing hot air will blow cold air

Make sure that the pipe is not blocked and the shift to hot is opening the valves to the blower unit. If this is choked , blocked or not reacting , the section must be checked and flushed out for free water flow.
So remove from the line from the engine and use an external water line to test.

I have a 1978 T/A with a 403. the car runs good ,but it won't idle after it warms up. It has good fuel pressure and spark. think its the choke. how can i unhook it to see if that is it?

The choke will open automaticly when the engine is warm in ten mintes or so. Remove the air cleaner to check. If close still replace the chokes vacuum control diaphram mounted on the rear side of the carburetor

My 1987 firebird keeps flooding out, why?

Several things can cause this but start by verify the choke pull off which is responsible for opening the choke plate after engine has started. It will recieve engine vaccum once started and open to allow air into the carb. This is a vacuum dash pot/pull-off externally mounted to the carb with a linkage arm to the choke plate.Without this opening, the engine will be starved for air and put you into a full rich condition. Another external device wchich can mysteriously cause rich conditions is the canister purge valve. It can introduce raw fuel and vapor on start up when failed. It is a black plastic valve near the carb with small and large vacuum tubes.
