Question about Mercedes-Benz E320

Open Question

1999 mercedes e320 transmission slipping code suggests speed sensor, thought fluid was low, purchased Mercedes dip stick and fluid from dealer. Still slips after a minute or 2 minutes driving. When car is cold it shifts into drive and reverse but then after a short time starts slipping. I can shut the auto off for about a minute restart and the car is drivable again for alittle then begins slipping again. HELP

SOURCE: Mercedes after shifting to reverse to drive the 1st gear slips

mercedes did nothing wrong your transmission is probably blown up. no way they could put in the wrong parts they wouldn't fit. how many miles are on your trans now? did you ever do a transmission service on the transmission that mercedes says is lifetime fluid? dont do back to the dealer find an independant shop that specializes in mercedes, like the one i work for. the dealer doesnt care about its clients. Us independants honestly do care

Could be a bad sensor. Have the onboard computer scanner for diagnostics codes.

Where is located the transmission oil?

most Mercedes built in the last 12 to 15 years do not have a dip stick , only the tube. The dip stick is considered a special tool now and must be purchased from dealer.

How do i check the transmission fluid in my clk 320 and if it is low what type do i put in it

In order to check the fluid in the transmission you need the Mercedes Benz dip stick. It's a special tool needed for all the 722.6 transmissions. Best thing is probably to just stop by a Mercedes Independent shop where they can check it real quick. It uses a synthetic based fluid. I always go with the factory fluid.

My Friend has a 98 C 280. She started experiencing Transmission SLippage when going up Hill. When trying to Check Transmission Fluid I discovered there was no Dip Stick. Just some plastic cap which didn"t...

Only authorised Mercedes Benz dealers have the dip stick for your car (and you can't buy them anywhere!). So you would HAVE to go to a Mercedes dealer (and ofcourse pay an "arm & a leg" to have them check it out).
In any case, the transmission fluid in your car doesn't get replaced... ever! (yes I was shocked too) but apparently so. The fluid goes in one time and that's it... unless ofcourse you have a replacement transmission then it gets emptied and refilled.

Need to check transmission fluid on my 1999 c180 elegance.can i use engine oil dip stick

No, absolutely not. Check the transmission fluid level with the transmission dip stick. The oil level dip stick may not be the same length and the markings are not the same. Overfilling a transmission may cause damage. Do not have one then you need to get one. What has happened have you lost it?

Cant find dip stick for transmission

this is a sealed transmission, it has no stick stick, the fluid must be checked by the dealer using an electronic scan tool.
