Question about 2000 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

We have a 2000 Chevy S-10 pick-up,that wont start. I have spark, I have fuel up to the metering body, it starts when I spray starter fluid into the throttle body, long enough to burn it off. I have 12 volts to the top of each of the injectors (with the key on) and I have between 11.3 and 11.5 ohms across each of the injectors. I think I've narrowed it down to the injectors being plugged. Is there a way that I can clean them? I already have them out of the metering body.

Have you put the car on an OBD scanner to see if there are any errors present. Even if there is no CEL light - the bulb could be burned out or removed.

Injectors require (acidic) pressurized equipment to clean.
This is not really an option open to the do-it-yourselfer because it requires special equipment that can cost anywhere from $4,000 to $8,300. Because of that and the labor involved, a shop may charge you $40+ per injector for removal and cleaning. (Makes you long for the good old days of carburetion, doesn’t it?)
But it’s a lot cheaper than spending at least twice that to replace ruined injectors with new ones, which is what happens when an injector becomes hopelessly clogged. And injectors can be tested, observed, and compared off the car. An injector that’s not passing as much liquid as the others can be re-cleaned. If that doesn’t work and the injector must be replaced, the injector that needs to be replaced is easily pinpointed.
When cleaning injectors, fuel varnish should also be removed from the throttle body and intake tract with an aerosol cleaning solvent. Intake valves and combustion chambers should also be cleaned using a “top cleaner” type of product, especially on engines that burn oil. Replace the spark plugs after performing any kind of engine cleaning; also change the oil and filter.

My 98 chevy blazer just got a new fuel pump and filter. Wont start even with starter fluid into the throttle body. Any ideas?

If it's a gasoline engine, please check for sparks at the spark plug end. If it's a diesel, check pre-heating system. Starter fluid in the throttle body must be ignited by the spark plugs. For diesel, pre-heating is necessary to ignite the fuel.

Chevy Tahoe 2000 Z71 won't start!

Just for the record, its a throttle body not a carb.
Sounds like the injectors are not getting power or a ground signal from the computer.
You would check them with a meter or low voltage test light.

I have a 1988 chevy truck and it will not start now, i shorted out the starter and it burned the negative cable wire so i unhooked it and replaced the starter solenoid and replaced the egnition module,...

Is the engine turning over and just not starting? Go back to basics, you need fuel, fire, compression, and proper timing to get it to start. Check the fuel pump, do you hear it run when you turn the key on? Do you have fuel pressure, if so check for spark at the spark plugs, if you have spark try turning the engine over and have a buddy spray some starting fluid in the throttle body, if it tries to start then you have a fuel problem. If no fire check dist module, ign coil and coil wire.

I have 91 chevy blazer s-10. and it tries to turn over and i can see the injesters spraying fuel but i took a spark plug out and it was dry and ideas?

check another spark plug first off,if more than one are dry could be a possible broken timing chain, remember even though its EFI it also still uses valves, its also possible you have bad fuel.try a shot of starter fluid thru throttle body....if it starts after that consider draining fuel tank and adding fresh fuel, its also possible you have a timing issue where as the fuel is burning off plugs but not powering engine

Have spark,no fire, sprayed starter fluid into throtle body but does not start

Turn key forward listen for the fuel pump to pressurize if you don't here anything then your fuel pump needs replaced and it's in the tank.
