I have a 1999 buick regal ls and you drive down the road and it dies. Then you can crank back up sometimes and sometimes it takes about 10 min.

I have the same issue with my 1992 Regal 3.8L. It dies when it's really warm outside and after I driven it for 40mins or so. Then, it won't start right away until I wait 5-10 mins. and it fires right up like nothing was wrong. It is not a fuel issue because i have replaced the fuel pump and filter. Also, if I push the fuel purge button on the fuel rail after it dies and gas squirts out under high pressure. Must be something electrical or related to spark. Looks like I'm going to be throwing parts at it until it's fixed. The next thing I'm going to replace is the crank posistion sensor. If anyone knows what this may be - let me know. Thx.

Just following up on this. The crank position sensor was the problem. It resides near the crank under the car and only took me 15 mins to replace it. Enjoy!

I found the problem. It was the crank position sensor. There was also a cracked vacuum hose connecting to the diaphragm on the fuel rail. Replaced both and my 92 Buick no longer dies. For the guy who's Buick was dying when using the turn signals - replace the crank position sensor. One of my symptoms of my Buick dying was when I used my turn signals. Use of turn signals places a varying load on the electrical system which messes up the crank posistion sensor if it is going bad.

I have a 99 Buick Regal and it too dies out, but only when I use my turn signals. Sometimes, when trying to start the car...the dash lights would flicker and you can hear some sort of electrical ticking sound. As of today, my car will not start (5/24/09) it hadn't turned over since yesterday. After a process of elimination and searching the net, I think I need a new ignition switch. You may need one as well.

I also have a 99 Buick Regal GS that dies when I use the turn signal. I have followed the noise to a circuit board on the foot well drivers side. During the investigation I found that if I turned on my hazard lights the car would start and no noise. I also noticed the problem would go away at night. The control box/circuit board is from Lectron in Michigan p/n on the box is 10408961-9147 but I can't find it. Sorry no solution yet.

From the searching that I have done, it is the ignition switch or the signal switch. I am leaning towards the ignition due to the other issues that I am having like: unable to remove key at times, trans will not shift out of park at times. With the tilt steering wheel it may cause the switch premature failure due to the up and down motion. Ignition switch is around $150 but the signal switch is around $250. I hate electrical issues. =(

Mass air flow , crank sensor . I wouldn't discount anything . Having a scan tool that can view engine sensor data would be a great help too , testing fuel pressure and flow and back pressure test the exhaust .

When my 94 Regal GS frequently wouldn't start for 30 minutes to an hour after being driven, it was the crankshaft positioning sensor that needed to be replaced. I also replaced the harmonic balance pulley. The car ran more smoothly and started everytime.

Check out the TPS on the throttle body. It has three wires to it, The black is the ground and the other two are for high and low resistor readings. If an open occurs the car will die out and very well start again. The tps should have a 1.5 volt setting to operate correctly when new

P0300 is a random misfire code not a Crank Sensor Code. Alot of cars don't rely on the crank sensor for fuel and ignition timing but simply to check misfires. However, some cars do need the crank signal to stay running. It's possible that the sensor has an intermittent short or open in it and the car is dying when the signal is lost. If i remember correctly the crank sensor on a 3.8 is behind the harmonic balancer. So that would require removing the drive belt and balancer to get to it. Not a real challenging procedure but it will likely require the use of a harmonic balancer puller.

I would say with the multiple issue the computer on the car is starting to go. You need to have the vehicle checked out by your local mechanic.
