Window crank replacement in 1993 Toyota Corolla

My window crank is broke in my 1993 Toyota Corolla. How do I go about taking the mechanism out and installing a new one? Should I go to a junkyard to find a good one?

1993 Toyota corolla shut off while driving on the freeway

The first thing is to check the timing belt, remove the distributor cap and crank the engine, if the rotor doesn't turn the timing belt is broken, unlike some engines on this engine there is no mechanical damage if the belt breaks.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

The door lock actuator is surely faulty that's why it doesn't respond. The actuator is a black tube that has white tip where the metal wire is attached. You can find this on the frame of the vehicle when you remove the door trim. Have it replaced and you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

How do i check fuel pump on 1993 toyota corolla

THis is normally done with a pressure gauge on the fuel rail. Do you suspect a fuel delivery problem? Take off the air filter and spray a little carb cleaner in the intake manifold and crank. If it tries to start you are going in the right direction possibly fuel pump. Use extreme caution not to spreay too much. If the car backfires you may see a backflash flame!

My 1993 toyota corolla can't start. prior to

Check the starting circuit. Start at the battery. Load test it (or have the auto parts store do it...most perform this test for free). If that is ok, check the wires to the starter solenoid. Look for loose connections, bolts, and/or corrosion. If you have power there, and it will not crank, It should be your starter or solenoid. It will be sold to you rebuilt or new and will come complete as one unit as the solenoid is integral to the starter. Make sure you do not have an alarm that is armed. I think that is a non issue on this particular year. My best guess is that the starter needs a replacement and that you should service the connections from thje battery to the starter and be back on the road.

We have bought a new rear window for my sons 1993 corolla as the support mechanism had rusted and you cannot by it without the window - now we cannot get the window inside the door. We have the interior of...

There is a window channel that is either rubber or fabric that the window runs up and down in. with the window out, you can remove the u-shaped channel strip from around the window.
This will allow you extra room to put the glass in the door. and to connect it to the regulator mechanism.
After it's in, take a spray bottle with a water/soap mixture and spray the backside of the window channel and you should be able to slide it back into place with the window in and cranked 3/4 of the way down...
Removing the channel pad strip will make all the difference.

Hoodlatch is doesn't stay shut for Toyota Corolla 1993

Before you replace it, are you sure that it is broken? Most of the time, the release mechanism rusts, and sticks in the "open Position". Spray it down with WD-40, and look at the latch closely. Look at the driver side, and see if the release cable is retracted. Using a long screwdriver, pry the release cable back out. It just may be seized up.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for advice.
