Question about 1997 Nissan 200SX

Nissan Serena overheating

We have already had our waterpump replaced - we do not think it is the head gascet, as this new, we have fears that it may be the engine block

How do I replace water pump on 97 Lincoln Continental

Best Answer:you can easily do it yourself within 2 hours if your new to working on cars. My mark 8 has the same engine and it took me less than an hour.Heres how.

1: put a pan under the engine to catch the coolant.
2: take off the belt - use a 3/8 in drive wrench in the tensioner(theres a square spot for it to slide in)
3:line up the holes in the pulley with the waterpump and undo the bolts(i think they were 13mm)
4:take out the waterpump and the coolant will flow out the hole. (clean the hole out with a scrub sponge)
5: take pulley off (its a little bit tough so try and get a new waterpump with it already on)
6: put new waterpump in and reverse the rest of the steps
7:fill with coolant- burp the system afterwards(theres a crossover pipe running front to back in between the heads. Just unscrew until you see coolant coming out)

Your done! less than an hour and you saved a couple hundred as stealerships and garages will over charge you as its a lincoln.

Engine needs fuel, spark (unless it's diesel), and air. Check that you have spark.

My 2000 celica starts to overheat as soon as I give it gas. The Fan is working properly and I just replaced the thermostat. What is wrong with it.

Could be the head gascet. It is not totaly dead, but some channels are damaged. Because of that, some pressure from detonation chambers are getting in to the cooling sistem channels, trough damaged head gascet.

Open coolant reservoir cap, then start the engine.

Put the cap on for ten seconds and take it of.

If there is presure building up or the coolant is bubling, than thats a head gascet for shure. Just replace it and dont forget to chek the head for micro cracs.

I don't know what kind of solution you want but white smoke from the tail pipe is indicating that you are getting coolant/ water into your combustion chamber could be head gasket or cracked head or block this kind off repair should be done by a professional. unless you have some knowledge of tearing apart engine componets. get back to me on what you want

How to replace a waterpump on a 1999 chevy lumina?

The waterpump is located on passenger side of the car. Its location if you were standing looking from the passenger side at the engine is at the top right of the engine. There is a pully at the top of the engine that has 4 10mm headed bolts should be a non grooved pully.Loosen the bolts on that pully with the belt on once you loosen these bolts but do not remove them just yet.Using a 3/8 drive ratchet find the belt tensioner and release the belt making sure you remember the belt routing.Typically the the belt routing is printed on a plastic shroud that is just above the waterpump. Once you have removed the belt take out the 4 bolts that you previously loosened.Remove that pully now and the waterpump is right behind that. Sometimes the pully sticks a bit so you may need to put something behind it to gently dislodge it.There are 5 bolts on the waterpump the head of these bolts are 5/16 or 8mm remove the the five bolts using a quarter inch drive ratchet.Once this is done you may need to dislodge the pump.A dead blow hammer works well or a block of wood and a hammer could be used in a pinch. This should not require alot of force.Just a few taps should do it you are just breaking the gasket seal at this point. Now that the old pump is removed the old gasket needs to be removed from the waterpump housing. make sure all old gasket material is removed so the new one will seal properly.Take out the replacement pump and and line the new gasket on the waterpump once you have done this remove the gasket so you can adhere the gasket in place with a thin coat of rtv or weatherstrip adhesive. Now you ready to reverse the process to put it back on.Just make sure to line up the five bolt holes and your ready to go. Hope this helps.

My 1994 honda civic overheated still turning over but wont start we replaced the thermostat fuel filter and a sliced radiator hose, but still wont start

Try taking spark plugs out and then turn engine over, if water sprays fron cylinders then the reason it overheadted was head gascet fault, but once water is removed and spark plugs re-fitted then it should start. hope not head gascet tho.

please tick box if helped
