If everything keeps going like that then it sounds like its a problem with the onboard computer. The computer controls all the guages and would explain why they all fail at the same time.

Gage problems can be caused by low battery or computer malfunction. Is the engine light on?

Testimonial: "There's no check engine light on, but I wonder if it might be a connector, as I can set the needles back to working by tapping the dash if they act up"

Maybe, a wire came lose. Did you hit anything? Spill any water inside? Could be a short, considering they all went out. Did they all go out at once?

Instrument Cluster stopped working

Sounds like you lost all electrical power. have the battery condition checked, it may be dead or you may have a blown main fuse under the hood due to a large short circuit.

2006 f-250 everything in dash go out then later come back on again later, speedo, tach, gauges, all drop to 0,is it a short, delayed fuse,or instrument cluster?

CHeck the earth returns on the instrument cluster. The behavior points to a loose electrical connection rather than a short or fuse.

From what you say i think you are correct in saying it is a connection problem, Remove the cluster and check wiring to cluster. make sure pins are good, you may need to bend pins to make them tight when you connect the connector to cluster.

Odometer not working

Could be that speedo cable has become disconnected or that the inner shaft has broken. The speed cable is connected between the back of the instrument cluster and the left side of the transmission. Check under the car that the cable is securely fitted to the side of the transmission. Disconnect it and and check on the condition of the square drive flexible shaft. The spinning of this inner shaft is what conveys the output shaft speed of the transmission to the instruments. The instrument cluster can be removed but pushing a length of coat hanger wire with right angle turn on its end between the the cluster and the dashboard surround. Turn the coat hanger to hook behind the cluster and pull forward to remove it. Try several points around the cluster. It is best to disconnect the speedo drive cable to withdraw the cluster (after electrical connections have been disconnected. check that the speedo cable is secure to the back of the instruments. If you remove the cluster completely follow the path of the speedo cable. If you have to replace the cable, tying a length of string to the speedo cable end first and posting the string down the cable path will help the re-installation enormously. Simply pull the string whilst reinstalling the instrument cluster until the end of the speedo can be got hold of. Refit the speedo cable to the transmission only after the instrument cluster is back in place.

My speedo has stopped working in my subaru libery

Several reasons to include lost connection from the transmission, blown fuse or bad electrical lead to the wiring harness for the instrument cluster.

Gages speedo tac all quit. fuses are good 98 jeep wrangler. did it before but came back on. changed gage cluster still will not work

Have you checked it with a scan tool to be sure it is actually getting the information? The instrument cluster do go out, meaning the ribbon on the back.I would check the connection, then turn to a way to determine if it is recieving a signal from ECM.
