Where is the freeze plug located

The engine in your Ford Explorer has freeze plugs, also called expansion plugs, mounted in the sides of the block. Freeze plugs are supposed to protect the engine block if the water in the engine freezes -- the expanded water is supposed to push out the freeze plug, although that doesn't always happen. Freeze plugs are made of thin steel compared to the engine block, and even with an anti-freeze mixture the plugs can rust out and require replacement.

Oil light keeps coming on

1992 ford explorer with the oil light coming on, this can be due to a bad switch, this switch is called the oil pressure switch and is located near the oil filter area, this would be the cheapest way to go first and if the light still comes on then you will need to have a pressure gauge hooked to where the switch goes and the gauge will tell you if its really low on oil pressure and if it is then this may be due to worn engine bearings or weak oil pump, i will tell you i have not seen an explorer with low oil pressure just needing a oil pump, most of the time it is time for another engine. what =i have seen is alot of them with bad oil pressure switches that were making the oil light come on . hope this is helpful, good luck.

I have a oil leak in my 1992 Ford Explorer.

Take off oil pan, regasket it with gasket maker, Install. Replace oil filter, and be sure its on solid. then check Sending Unit. (what looks like a bolt with a wire in it). Is it tight? while your there, take it off and use teflon tape and put it back on. It should be good.
