Check Engine light and vsc off light on

It is on about 95% of the time and then goes off. I scanned and showed a code that relates to left bank timing belt stretched or jumped a cog but the engine runs fine as always. Not DTC could be found for the vehicle stability control. Puzzled?

The check engine light comes on and followed immediately with the check VSC light. Periodically both go off for a few hours. I scanned and showed P1346 that according to my Lexus service manual relates to the left bank valve angle sensor or the VVT. It could also be a jumped or strectched timing belt thought the engine runs fine as always. On two prior times the check engine light came on and I fixed the issue but had to clear the code but this time the check engine light goes off on its own. Thanks.

I took it to the dealer and they too had not seen anything quite like but asked permission to examine the timing and all was okay. Two other areas I suggested and they agreed coudl have been the valvle angle sensor or the VVT oil control valve. They chose, at my expense to try a new sensor first and that was not the cause. The VVT oil control valve was for another $125 part. Interestingly the car did run perceptively smoother, a sense that I failed to remember from new.

Everything that you have said about the P1346 error code is correct.  Ironically, this is not a totaly uncommon thing with Lexus.  I have heard of this numerous times and most of the time, the driver of the car can't really feel any difference and thinks that there is nothing wrong.  It seems that your timing belt is of by just a notch/tooth or so and that the timing is off by so little that you just aren't feeling it.  That being said, if it were my car, I would get it into the shop and have them take a look at it.  the timing either needs to be readjusted or you need a new belt because it has streched slightly.  I wouldn't take the chance of it causing problems down the road.  Let me know if I can help you with anything else.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

Could be a problem with one of your ignition coils (since it is flashing) or MAF sensor issue.

Real thing to do here is to take your vehicle buy an AutoZone and they can usually scan the codes in your vehicle for free. If you bring back the codes, I can go over them with you and you will have a much better idea of what is wrong

Thanks
Kevin

VSC off VSC trac on as well as check engine light on but the car is working fine I've driven with both the lights on? Is there something wrong, what should I do? Should I stop driving and how can

VSC is vehicle stability/skid control. Find the button that turns it off and on. Push the button to turn it on and the light should go off. Most cases systems like these will have a light stay on any time they are turned off. If the vehicle is a 96' or newer call around to your local auto parts stores and you should find one that will scan your vehicle for free and tell you why the check engine light is on. If the two problems are related the scan should tell you what part of the VSC is malfunctioning.

My toyota 4runner 2003 model, shows engine check light and vsc track light on . But mostly , my truck vibrates big time each time the brake is applied. Please what do I do? I need help. Thanks,...

This sounds like two problems, the virbrating brakes is due to plusating brakes and this is caused by out of round brake rotors, you will need to have the rotors machined down ture again and this will take care of the vibration when braking. the engine and vsc lights are on because the trucks computer picked up a problem. when everthe check engine light comes on the computer shuts down the vsc because if the engine is not running good then the vsc can not operate correctly and so the computer turns of that system and turns on the light and the engine light is turned on due to a problem. there are so many reasone the engine light could be on for, you will need to have the computer scanned for codes. when the computer detects a problem it stores a code that will tell you which part or sensor is failing or failed. this could be as simple as a loose gas cap or may be a sensor but without scanning its hard to know whats wrong. there are many autopart stores like autozone for example that will scan the codes and give you a print out of the codes. for example there may be a code like po301 cylinder 1 misfire detected, this would mean cylinder 1 is mis firing and then with a little checking you can find out why this is. if you could get the codes and let me know them i would be able to help you further, good luck and have a good day.

The VSC along with check engine lights are on. Is this a major problem?

Have the PCM scanned for codes. With Toyota, the VSC light will come on any time the check engine light is on. You can drive the vehicle. Just have it scanned when you have time.

Check engine, vsc, track off light come on in same time

the vsc light comes on when ever the check engine light comes on, this is because the vsc cant operate correctly when engine isnt running right so computer shuts it down and light turns on, you need to have the computer scanned for codes to figure out why check engine light came on,the codes that are stored will point you in the right direction of the problem, autozone and other auto part stores will scan for free,

I recieved the following Warning lights: VSC and Engine Check

You have an issue with the engine. The other lights come on when the Check Engine light comes on. The most common reason for the Ck Engine light on is a loose gas cap. If the cap is tight, you will need to find someone who can scan the car's ECU and give you the DTC code. Without the code, we cannot provide any more ionfor at this time.Get the code and get back to us; then we can solve the problem.
