Not all the same, but usually you have a full mark and an add mark.
The add mark is below the full mark, and it is the point that is one quart less than full.

These dipsticks generally have instructions on one side of the dipstick telling you how to check it properly. WARNING fallow the directions on theThe dipstick . Some say check in park with motor hot, on a jeep cherokee check in neutral with engine ideling . I know that now after a 1800 dollar transmition replacement. Bottom line is fallow directions on dipstick . they will be on one side or the other

How do you check the automatic transmision fluid level in a 1998 oldsmobile cutlass

the transmission needs to be warm to get an accurate reading, drive around the block to warm the transmission to operating temperature, when you stop to check it leave the car running, pull the dipstick and wipe it clean, reinsert and pull out again to get a good reading, as you take it out to get a reading keep the end that was in the motor pointed downwards , dont lean the dipstick as this will give you a higher reading, the proper level will be a little higher than half way of the crosshatched marks on the end of the dipstick

Where do I check the transmission fluid

Hi, follow the detailed instruction below on how to check the Transmission fluid on your Chevy Cavalier 2001.
  1. Turn the Cavalier on and put it in neutral. Make sure your hand brake is engaged to keep the car from moving while you work on it. Open your car's hood so that you have access to the engine.
  2. Look for your Cavalier's transmission dipstick. It should stick out from the body of the engine, and be clearly labelled as "transmission fluid." Refer to your Cavalier's owner's manual for a diagram of engine parts if you have trouble locating the dipstick.
  3. Pull the dipstick out and clean it off with a rag. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again. Check the end of the dipstick for your reading; the transmission level will be measured on the dipstick by labels like "low," "medium" and "high." If your dipstick has no fluid on it, it means that your Cavalier is almost out of transmission fluid and needs more. A low reading also indicates a need to add more fluid. If the fluid is low, add a bottle of transmission fluid, available for purchase at auto supply shops. Add fluid and repeat this process until your dipstick shows a reading of "high" or "full."

How do you put transmission fluid in a 2001 Ford Excursion

first read your owners manual so you know exactly what type of transmission fluid and how to read the dipstick. Make sure you know the difference between the oil dipstick and the transmission dipstick. Buy a long narrow funnel at the parts store where you buy the fluid. It will have to fit into the transmission dipstick tube. Add fluid through the transmission dipstick tube. This is not something that must be done often, unless you have a serious leak somewhere. You are at 10 years, if your tranny is slipping, be prepared to get it rebuilt.

No fluid on trans stick how to fill it,do i need to put it in drive after every court?

You'll have to put it in through the dipstick tube with a small funnel. You should probably add at least two quarts of the approved fluid (ATF+4 I'm pretty sure). Then follow the instructions on the dipstick. It should be stamped on there.

Where is the dipstick?

I believe it is just read by the computer. It should notify if you need to take any action.

Check your manual for more specific instructions.

Hope this helped,
