If it has one coil pack per cylinder, swap no. 3 with no. 1. If the problem moves to No.1 the problem is a faulty coil pack, or the HT lead connections to it are corroded.

My 90 hp Yamaha difficult in idling. Have to put n fast idle. Then when put in gear dies. One spark plug is not working. I just replaced impeller.

The one dead cylinder is the cause of the stall out, you need to figure out why that cylinder is dead, no spark, no compression and so on.

What causes a dead cylinder on 2002 olds intrigue

Generally speaking, you need spark fuel and compression.
So if any of the three are missing you would have a dead cylinder.
If the cylinder has no compression, its usually a valve problem.

Engine valve timing

This is a simple engine to work on. Check for compression in the dead cylinder. If low or none, you found your problem....likely burnt exhaust valve.
If compression good, check injector for fuel spay or fuel delivery head for fuel delivery. With engine idling, crack each line nut at the fuel distributor and see if any fuel squirts out.

If so, check spark delivery by pulling lead to dead cylinder and install used/spare spark plug into plug lead. lay this against engine and run engine watching for spark at plug tip. Do not touch the plug or wire while engine running.

If no spark, check distributor cap for cracks inside. The electronics are primative on these so the above should get you close to the reason cylinder is not firing.

Dead miss on one cylinder 99 sl2

A quick way to check the single coil pack if you know for sure which cylinder is miss firing and its setting a code you can swap the coil pack to another cylinder and see if the miss changes from one cylinder to another. If it travels to where you moved the coil then the coil is bad,if not you have other problems.

Engine cant start because they is no spark.isuzu kb 220

welcome to USA

that means no books to match.
books are necessary.
no year stated or country or size engine. ok its petrol got that.

spark , are all sparks dead or just one or a pair.
wow, engine cant run on 1 cylinder can they.
if spark is dead on all cylinder you must scan the PCM to see why.
cam belt snapped.
CMP sensor dead
CKP sensor dead.
coil pack dead. (how many does it have, I cant see our engine or spark wires, so can never guess )

2001 mazda millenia dead cylinder #3

a dead cylinder can mean a lot of things. Was there a compression test done and was that cylinder low?

If that's the case than new engine either re manufactured or used would be the best route.

How do I find top dead center on the compression stroke on the #1 cylinder and by looking at the motor, which is #1 cylinder?

From the front of the car, #1 is the closest cylinder on your right.
Disable power to the coil pack, remove the #1 spark plug, turn the engine over by hand with your finger covering the spark plug hole (this may be easier with a friends help) you will be able to feel a good amount of pressure as the cylinder comes to top dead on the compression stroke, use the timing marks on the harmonic balancer to set it exactly.

Replaced timing belt number 3 cyl is dead have spark and fuel and 160 psi compression but cyl 3 is dead

Make sure you have fuel and sufficient spark to that particular cylinder. If you fuel air and spark the cylinder will fire.

I have a missfire code on the check engine light. 1997 honda prel

Find out which cylinder is missfiring by using an inductive timing light to check each plug wire for spark. If you find a dead wire you should replace the all the wires and spark plugs. If you don't find a dead wire check the distributor cap. You could have a broken contact or a crack which might cause a loss of spark at one cylinder.

Honda wires are much better than their aftermarket counterparts so don't skimp there.

I hope this helps. Good luck and be careful!

I have a dead cylinder. Missing badly. Has spark. Located the cyl. Pulled the injecter from that cyl. and switched with another. That cyl. still dead. Checked the valve springs. look ok. WHAT now?

Have you checked the valve adjustment for that cylinder? Is the cam opening the valves OK? Take the spark plug out, is it bad? oily? Check the compression. should be 120-150psi.
