Whining noise after shut off/dead battery

Brand new battery, after the car sits for more than 8 hrs. it's dead. Something is making a moped acceleration sound after it is shut off, assuming that this is draining the battery.

SOURCE: BATTERY IS DRAINING EVEN WHILE CAR IS NOT IN USE

I stated "such as a light " there are many, many other causes of 12 volt drains such as a seat switch that might hang up and stick. Empty that battery overnight. First install a 9V Battery Radio memory / and clock or you will have to reset both. Disconnect BLACK negative cable of battery. Using a 12V testlight, connect one end to the disconnected cable, and the other to the negative battery terinal. It should light. Remove the 20A BODY and LIGHTER fuse first . This will eliminate the courtesy light circuit . If light goes off the drain is on that circuit. STILL LIT ? drain is on another circuit. Start by eliminating fuses. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: battery goes dead intermittently

Quite often the alarm system ends up being the culprit. If you have, or know someone, who has a clamp on amp gauge that can test the draw from that circuit, it should tell you what you need to know. It could be that or a combination of various draws from your system.

SOURCE: i have a loud whining noise coming from my ac

The A/C compressor constantly turns because the pulley is connected into the serpentine system. The whining noise is pretty indicative of a low charge in the A/C system. I would start by having your A/C pressure checked and charged if needed.

Do you see a brake light on while driving? That could be a bad alternator.

Ask your garage to perform a parasitic draw test - you could do this with a multimeter, as well; it sounds like something is draining your battery while off - it could be any fuse and not obvious like with lights on/etc.

I would 95% positively guess this is the issue due to time frame. If the garage doesn't know what this is, take her somewhere that does. Shouldn't be costly, either.

How do I stop a whining sound that comes on when I shut the truck off. In the area of the front of engine. Kills the battery.

No if you have traction control system that is what is running and drawing the battery. Shut the truck off and unplug it . The noise should stop and the battery will stay up. Price out the electronic part and if it is not reasonable. Check on line or the junk yard. good luck.

Check the heavy cable from battery to starter is ok. Put current directly onto the starting terminal on starter motor. If nothing happens the starter is dead. Make sure the battery isd charged

Acts like battery is almost dead but it isn't.

Sounds like it's your battery cables, either a bad ground cable or the positive cable. I would replace both and see if that fixes your problem. Your local auto parts store has them and that is a pretty easy job.

The basics, your battery is used to provide power to the starter. Once the engine is running the alternator then provides current to recharge the battery and run all of your electrical components. so I would suspect the starter is not working to start the engine.

Start up problem

If the belts are making noise, the alternator may NOT be spinning fast enough to produce sufficient voltage to charge ther battery, because the belts are slipping, and slipping = noises.
Tighten the belts.

Regarding the starter: Replace it, or get it overhauled at a starter repair service. You have bad starter contacts
