I will try to answer and offer you a couple of choices based on 2 different potential problems.

The blower motor resistor is the control for both the heater fan blower and the A/C since they are the same blower motor. It is the boost that you need to feel either heat or A/C through the vents. The part can be traced from the heater blower wires under the hood to a control about the middle of the Firewall. 2 bolts hold it in place with 1 connector wire. But a heater line will likely block access to switching the part. It is often a part that tapping will start it working again.

Another A/C intermittent problem is low Freon. A certain pressure will engage the A/C compressor switch. Since outside air temperature can boost the internal pressure remaining in your A/C system, every time it expands the Freon; your system may work.

Heater fan not operating


Most of the time when a heater blower quits working it is the blower switch that fails rather than the motor. Blower switch can be accessed in the dash panel.

My heater periodically works in my 99 ingrigue. Super frusturating. When i start it sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.


The temperature display and the heater function are likely two different issues. I had a similar issue with intermittent heat on my 2001 Aurora. In my case it turned out to be the blower motor. As a vehicle ages and the bearings on the motor start going bad, the amount of energy it takes to spin the motor gets higher and higher. This can result in intermittent behavior or cause the heater resistors to go bad. It is also possible that the heater control itself is the issue, but with the age of this vehicle, I would start with the blower motor and then heater resistors.

I have a 1987 toyota celica gt and the heater won't come on, the blower works but no heat, fuses are good but no heat


This problem is specific to the Gen4 Celica (86-89). Intermittent or no heat heat is caused by cracked solder joints in the Heater Control Panel. You need to remove the panel and re-solder the solder joints. When electrical continuity is broken, the panel defaults to the cold setting. If you go over a bump and it touches again, you may get hot. Hence, intermittent or no heat. We have the complete DIY fix posted at www.st162.net and it's free. Pic below shows the heater control points to re-solder.

there is no resistor but it does have a digital fan control module located under the hood above the fan motor in the heater box. you will need to remove the plastic cover again the firewall.and the the module will be under the relays.
