SOURCE: how to change a burned head light on a 2000 vw cabrio?

Changing headlights on VW Cabrio I just changed the headlights on my roommate's 2002 Cabrio, but I followed the instructions given for a 2001. What you have to do is: 1. Move the metal wire holding the black cover to the side and remove the black cover. 2. Remove the power cord from the bulb itself and push to the side. 3. You will see a pin holding the headlight in. Squeeze the pin (you want to squeeze closer to the top of the pin, which is the closed end; don't squeeze the open ends because all you will do is get irritated and hurt your fingers), then push it back and down. What this will do is move the pin away and then out from those little metal tabs that its going through. One side will pop out, then the other. When you get it out, the pin should be standing up, with the closed end pointing up. You can then remove the bulb and replace. Popping the pin back in is a heck of a lot easier than getting it out! I was able to remove the cover, but I got totally stumped on the pin. I hope this helps you out, it may be a little confusing but its kind of difficult to describe. Maybe this will at least point you in the right direction!

SOURCE: Need to know how to check automatic trans fluid in

Here is the procedure, you will need special equipment and fluid.

Transmission must not be in emergency running mode. Transmission should be in PARK. Transmission fluid temperature must not be more than 80° F (30° C) at the beginning of check. Open the check level plug on the bottom of the transmission pan. Add fluid through the fill plug as needed until it drips from the check level plug. Some fill caps can be easily twisted off. Others will be broken when removed and must be replaced.

Where is the serial number found on a 1999 cabrio distributor?

There was only one distributor number used by VW for all 1999 Cabrios (US market), all references below are for US models only. (for Canadian market there were some different ones). The VW part number is 037 905 205 T, these were made by Bosch. Bosch did possibly supply a some different numbers to VW (Bosch number 0 235 520 066 replaced by 0 235 520 065) but both had the same VW part number and used the same repair parts. There is no serial number for the distributors, just part numbers. The original distributor will have the VW number as well as one of the Bosch part numbers stamped into the body of the distributor. The distributors rarely had to be replaced, as most parts to repair them are available. The ignition hall unit (sensor) is replaceable in the 037 905 205 T distributor. I am a independent parts distributor for VW and Audi vehicles and also a Bosch warehouse distributor. I have the hall unit in stock for this distributor, mail order price is $121.70 + shipping (and + sales tax if shipped within Alabama). I can also install the hall unit in your distributor (if needed) if you send me your original distributor. To replace the hall unit the distributor has to be disassembled and if done improperly the distributor can be made unusable. Call me or Email me if you need more information. 1888VWPARTS vwparts@bellsouth.net

Where do you add tranmission luid on a 1999 vw cabrio

I'm almost positive that 1999 is the first year that VW changed to a procedure that involves special tools that require you to go back to the dealer to have this done. A quick call would confirm it. Hope this helps.

Speedometer not working in my 1998 vw cabrio

Replace the vehicle speed sensor. It is located on the transmission. If that doesnt solve it, then it would be either a short in the wire from the sensor to the cluster, or your cluster is bad.

it is possible,if it's not a speedo itself.
if you would have VAG COM scaner , you could check instrument cluster and determine if you have bad speedo or speed sensor.

is it more from the front or back of the car ?? over bumps ?? while acelerating or braking ??

on the top of the front struts there's a rubber bushing called the "upper strut mount" this is a commonly replaced item. Also the sway bar bushings are frequently replaced. or, it could be something totally different..... gremlins ??

Replacing engine mounts for 1996 vw cabrio

Autozone will have them or on the web, Autohauz. Cheaper on the web... just search for "motor mounts vw cabrio" or go here: http://catalog.worldpac.com/ibusiness/JSP.v.1.01/wizard.jsp?header=http://egermanparts.com/header.txt&footer=http://egermanparts.com/footer.txt&partner=ipb&clientid=egermanparts.com&baseurl=http://egermanparts.com/&cookieid=0244471252MG177XUO&year=1996&make=VW&model=GOL-C-001&category=All&part=Engine+Mount&appTransmissionType=_any

There are 4 (one front, one back, one left and one right). The driver's side and the front are hard to get to. They will be a combination of metal and rubber. Do not buy used! Weak motor mounts are just as bad as broken ones.

Good luck!
