From cold, run engine without the coolant cap on, have heater control switch on hot, let the system heat up, be careful it may pump out some coolant till the thermostat opens, when the thermostat opens the water level will drop, check if heat is getting into the car, top up to max level and replace the coolant cap. Check coolant level later, when the engine has cooled down, top up required. DON'T REMOVE CAP WHEN ENGINE IS HOT

Code po456 on my 2006 mustang 6 cyl. is there an easy fix

This elaborates more on the code.
P0456 - Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak)
Description:
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the complete evaporative emission (EVAP) control system for the presence of a very small fuel vapor leak. The system failure occurs when a fuel vapor leak from an opening as small as 0.508 mm (0.020 inch) is detected by the EVAP running loss monitor test.
Possible Causes:
• Very small holes or cuts in the fuel vapor hoses/tubes
• Loose fuel vapor hose/tube connections to the EVAP system components
• EVAP system component seals leaking. See the Possible Causes for DTC P0442
Diagnostic Aids:
Check for a missing fuel filler cap or the integrity of the cap.
Check for loose or damaged vapor hoses. Visually inspect the EVAP canister inlet port, CV solenoid filter, and canister vent hose assembly for contamination or debris.

Could the low heat issue on a 94 dodge caravan be a vapor lock in the coolant system?

did you do anything which may cause a vapor lock? if you suspect there is, you need to park your car upwards on a hill or raise the front of car, let it idle and try to bleed system with bleeding it while heat is on inside. while bleeding it you cna try to squeeze radiator hoses too.

VAPOR LOCK

Most causes of vapor lock in vehicles is a plugged vent hole in the gas cap. an easy test (although the taste...) is to blow on the inside of the cap if you hear air its clear. Another cause is overheating of the fuel system causing gas bubbles.

I have a 96 nissan pick up and it has a p1442 code what can be?

Hi there,

Codes with the 1st digit starting with a '1', is specific to that manufacturer.

Code P1442: Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected

This indicates a fuel vapor leak in the EVAP control system. In fact, the leak can be from a hole as small as 0.04" in diameter. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

Probable causes:

  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
  • Other small leak in EVAP system
  • Faulty vent o-ring seal

Cheers,

Scott

  • A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
  • Other small leak in EVAP system
  • Faulty vent o-ring seal
Possible Solutions

With a P0442, the most common repair is to:

  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

SAAB 9000 CSE 1996 - Coolant likage

With the vapor coming out I would say you have a hole in one of the heater hoses which go into the firewall in the area you describe. Inspect the hoses looking for the vapor with the engine still hot.

It could also be a leak in the heater core. The vent the vapor came out of is the source for fresh air for the heater and a/c. You should be able to smell antifreeze with the heater on inside the car if the leak is there. Water may also drip on the passenger side floor from the heater core.
