2005 Ford Freestar has trouble shifting into 2nd gear when fully warmed up. Shifts nice for 15 miles or so depending on ambient temperature and traffic.

Sounds like your second geer piston seal is worn out and losing pressure, recommended good used or rebuild transmission.

I have a 2003 mazda proge and it will shift only

The transmission is detecting a problem and is now in "limp in" mode. It allows the car to be driven about 40 mph so it can be brought to a repair facility.

Transmission troble

If this is automatic check you transmission fluid level. If that is good you will need to take it to a transmission shop and have it repaired. If it is standard you need to have the transmission serviced.

TRANSMITION?

Hmmmmm...send it to the junk yard! Cost more to fix the transmission than the car is worth.

Your transmission is "downshifting" which is a normal function...However if it's happening early, the throttle cable may be out of adjustment. This does not happen in 3rd gear because that's how the system is designed. Downshifting is a 4 (od) to 3rd gear shift...if already in 3rd, this won't happen. As long as trans shifts normally on flat ground with no slipping or delayed shifts, just service it regularly and it should be fine.
