Easy fix. If you press on the brakes and the rear lights do not light up, you are missing the signal from the switch on the brake pedal lever. This signal releases the gearshift.

Drivers feet commonly move or damage this switch on the brake pedal lever. You need to reposition or replace this switch. If the switch was merely out of position, it will not cost you anything to fix this.

The reason the switch is thee is to insure that you foot is on the brake before you shift gears, preventing runaways or lurching.

My 1997 Jimmy runs fine in idle when I take off the vechile is fine until it reaches 20 mph it won't accelerate and the rpms increase up to 3000 but no speed. What's wrong it's a 4 wheel d

Sounds like 2nd gear in the transmission is slipping. Cars usually shift at 15-20 mph from first to 2nd. First check the trans fluid.

2001 HYANDAI ELENTRA car was stuck in 3rd gear changed turn signal fuse was blown changed fuse work fine for a short time then then fuse blowed again then trans stop shiftinh again i changed the output...

I would suspect you have a short in the wiring to the transmission or the shift solenoid inside the ****** is shorted. Only way to know for sure is to get the wiring diagrams and trace down and inspect all the wiring that the fuse powers.

Vechile will not shift into park or reverse

The first thing to check is the linkage. Sometimes the linkage will slip, Block the wheels on the car (both front and rear) to prevent rolling. Locate the shift linkage on your transmission, and loosen the nut. You should be able to move the shift lever through all the gears, including "P" and "R". Place the transmission shift lever in "Park" (on the transmission) then move the shift lever (inside the car) in the "P" position and tighten the nut (not a bad idea to use a new locking nut here) You should now be able to shift through all gears. If this does not work, you have a more serious problem that may include a worn or broken belt or broken parking pawl inside the transmission.

Poor Shifting

Well, if it was low on fluid, and it was driven for a distance, you could of wrecked the interior gears of the tranni or other parts. I'm not a tranni guy but I know if you run a vechile with low tranni fluid you're asking for a new tranni or to have that one rebuilt.
