Yes, if it is the right length. The .070 differance in the dia. should be able to stretch over the shaft.

You order parts that are application specific

I had installed new cv axles in my 99 mercury vilager estate and now the passenger side rotates fine, but the drivers side doesn't at all when the car is in any gear!

check that the axles are the same length (probably not) and that they have been installed correctly to the proper sides. The one that is not turning is probably binding up in the diff centre and is causing the problem. The lengths (if so) will be small but critical to correct operation.

Replaced lf and rf axles this weekend. Both are brand new. Now getting a very loud popping when turning or hitting passing gear. 96 grand cherokee 5.2

check that you have the correct axles in the right sides as there may be a difference in lengths. It may be placing the axles and "CV" joints under stress when turning

Cv shafts why is there a joint like section in the middle of the pass. side cv axle its long but looks like 2 pieces somebody can you tell me and do i replace the whole thing or what? Thank You Randy

Yes, you (generally) replace the whole thing as a unit. The reason it's in two sections is to reduce 'torque steer'.

On FWD cars, when you accelerate the the axles will twist slightly, building up tension and applying additional force. This is fine as long as the axles are the same length, but if one is longer, it will twist more and cause that tire to apply more force and push the car towards the other side. Segmenting the axle negates this somewhat.

Hope this helps.

I replaced the right front cv axle on my 2000 Chevy Tracker with a new axle. The axle keeps pulling away from the wheel hub pushing the snap ring on the outer portion of the shaft out of its groove. I've...

reason u replaced the cv the first time ?? problem could be the hub has play or trans/engine mount went bad causing the motor and trans unit to flex under acceleration and braking-- check ur axle lengths by measuring old original to the new ones before swapping out again

Wobble when I drive my car had drive shafts replaced

make sure the new axles match up to exact length of old ones. sometimes aftermarket or rebuild cv axles are slightly shorter also possible the new axles are for a different model passat, thus when tightening the new axle in place it slips out.

If the car is front wheel drive, then no, they should be different lengths, because of the transmission. The distance between the tranny and the (driverside) tire is shorter, the shorter drive axle will go on that side.
