Question about Nissan Xterra
The steering wheel suddenly became very difficult to turn while driving at 40mph. Many indicator lights lit up on the dashboard also. Managed to park on on the road side. Left it there a few hours, came back, and drove like nothing had happened. Why did it freeze the first time and how do I make sure it never happens again? It's a big safety concern.
Something is wrong with the fan belt if mechanical pump is used ,if its a electric motor type on the steering column then it could have a fault with this unit ,if you have been to a back street garage and had the tracking adjusted and only one track end rod was adjusted this will throw the centralised position out and this will make the inbuilt computer throw a wobbly but as iam not a dealer fitter i am unfamilar with the system layout of this vehicle

2005 Caravan I had the same problem with my van gauges bounceing, headlights not comeing on when the switch was turned on.I took a day and downloaded a wireing diagram from dodge and studyed it.GROUND PROBLEM dodge have several ground conections to the body then there is one MAIN BODY GROUND.This is most likely your problem it is easy for any back yard mechanic to fix. This main body ground is located under your battery box.You will have to remove the battery and then the battery box becarful of the battery sensor that is mounted in the bottom of the box. Also there is a hose that you will have to disconnect but dont try to remove it from the box remove it from above the box. After you get the battery and box out you will see a threaded stud with a black wire conected to it this will be rusted because of no antioxide grease applyed. You will have to remove the nut and wire connector clean both and the stud with wire brush or sandpaper.Put antioxide grease or if nothing else some vaseline to keep it from coroading again.put back together and see if this dosent fix your problem. It has been six weeks for me now.good luck.dont forget that neg battery terminal is the first one to disconect and the last to reconect.

SOURCE: Car dies while driving
First off, check your battery terminals and posts for corrosion or any other cause of a poor connection. If your connection to the battery is cutting out/back on rapidly it would cause exactly those symptoms. also inspect the battery cables end to end for poor connections corrosion or breaks/tears in the insulating coating. if that yields no answers it is probably a sensor for the ecu or the fuel delivery system. good luck!

I also have a 2002 Envoy. Shifting to and from 4wh and 4wa can be done on the fly but shifting to 4wL has to be done stoped and while in neutral. Try that. Otherwise I'm afraid its a new computer for you. Its located under the left rear seat and you need a loan for one.
