Timing belt changed car wont start

Changed the timing belt on a 1999 Mazda Millenia. Now car acts like it is getting too much fuel. Won't start but will turn over. Replaced a sensor and spark plugs. Still nothing. No codes are found either.

Sounds like you have done it wrong and crunched the valves ,did you turn engine over by hand after fitting the new belt before attempting to start the engine

SOURCE: Mazda 323 Has spark, fuel, timing belt ok, does not want to start

check timing belt timing on the cam gear and crank gear. if timing belt has 60000 miles or more. if they dont break first. they stretch enough jump out of time.

VSS or vehicle speed sensor aka cam sensor or crank position sensor. Test the battery and alternator. You should also check for blown fuses, bad wires and grounds on a car as old as yours. If you find it's getting spark and fuel after further testing, check the timing belt. It could have slipped or broke even if it was changed recently so either pull off the cover or at least do a compression test.

Car wont start after replacing spark plugs

Make sure the plugs you bought are compatable to your engine. I changed plugs in a chevy truck with some high dollar plugs the auto store sold me saying they would boost my fuel milage and all that other stuff only to have the truck bearly start and when it did it ran like ****. Droped the manufacture recomended in and it solved the problem.
then make sure you did not get the fireing order mixed up. after that check your coils or distributer what ever you may have. Hope it starts.

Willnt start!

Check Your Timing It Must Be Wrong.
you would be better off buying the Haynes or Chilton repair manuals to avoid mistakes.
If Not Done Correctly This Will Result In A Very Costly Mistake.

No compression

Dont worry to much the Millenia is a non-interference engine so the valves did not get bent. You just need to re-adjust the belt again in its proper position.

I have a 200l Mazda Millenia, with only about 37,200 actual miles, is it prudent to be concerned about the timing belt just based on the miles, or should I just be concerned with the year of the car in ref...

Timing belt shuold be changed every 60000 miles and I havent read any reference to to changing timing belts according to how old it is so I personally would not change until it has to be. It terms of having the car checked and tuned, if it has been a long time since the last checkup it would not be a bad idea as millenias can be very troublesome if preventative maintenance is not taken.
