Its very possible its the engine..Try and roll engine over manually and see if it turns. You can also Check the fluids and see if they are all full.Another scenario cold be the trans lock up internally and stop the motor...The clicking sound is the starter trying to turn the motor over but can't.Good luck with your car and have a great day!!!

I think it is related to the GM security system. If your ignition key has the little chip or resistor in it, then this could be the problem. The system is unreliable and stops working without any warning.When it malfunctions, it shuts down the starter. If that is in fact what has happened, the dealership will want $1000 to fix it, unless, of course you still have warranty. The following website has a bypass system that works. no idea without a listen to be honest to try to work out if its the car or a internal fault with the radio which it could be but i would be inclined to suspect the car interferance first though but it could be a jammed cd drive causing it as well
