Replaced fuel pump,car won't start

2000 Pontiac Montana. I just replaced the fuel pump in the car and it will not fire. I also replaced the battery if that has any bearing at all. Sounds dumb, but the way electronics are in some of these cars, it's hard to day. The pump is an ACDelco as well

Just as a side note to those that have commented so far. The battery is a brand new one. Thanks for all the help. Wish I had access to a code reader at the moment. Checking around to see if any one I know has one

Use a code reader to reset the CPU program as replacing the battery sometimes corrupts the program. When you use the code reader see i9f there are any faults recorded and fix what shows up

SOURCE: Car wont start, no clicks no sound

make sure you have power getting to your starter when you crank. check the small nut on the starter. should have 12 v or very close to it. this will tell you if your getting power to the starter or if somethign before the starter and something maybe with your anti theft system or not. its hard to say online cause of that anti theft. doest the light flash at all? the anti theft light?

if your getting power to the starter when you crank make sure your getting good power to the starter by turning on the head lights and see if they dim. a good starter will cause the headlites to dim when attempting to start. if nothing dims check connections. or assume bad starter motor. make sure your also getting power to the main starter stud as well.

good luck

SOURCE: Van won't start

There is a port on your fuel rail,Its like a tire valve push on it a see if fuel is coming out.If it isn't you will need to replace fuel filter first, If you still don't have pressure you are going to have to replace fuel pump.If you can hear the pump it doesn't mean that it is working. It does mean you have elec to it.you need at least 35lbs pressure to fire injectors. You will need to check for spark at spark plugs to.after these test repost and we can solve this problem

I just replaced the fuel pump in my 2002 Pontiac Montana and I can hear the fuel pump working but the van still will not start. What else could be causing it?

The fuel pump may not have been the problem? You are not getting a spark (ignition) and/or firing due to timing, retardation, plug gaps need setting and cleaning, plug wires may be bad as insulation may crack, peel, split, or water and oil got on the contacts. The there is FLOODING is too much fuel prevents Air from entering the chambers. So many reasons, it needs a technician with test equipment to search for the sources.

Replaced fuel pump and filter and will not start

It can take several minutes' worth of cranking to get the air out of the system before the pressure builds to the pojnt that the car will start. I assume that the engine's cranking, but it just won't catch and run; you can bleed the air out of the lines faster if you take the dust cap off of the fuel pressure test connector (it's right behind the power steering fluid reservoir) and GENTLY push down on the valve. I wouldn't do this while cranking the engine, as you can get a huge spray of fuel in your face and create a really serious fire hazard that way, but several cycles of briefly turning the ignition on and off to run the pump a little and then letting the air out will generally get the system to the point where you can start the car.

Try using some starting fluid in the intake pickup; continue spraying while someone starts the car. If the car starts up, the fuel pump has gone bad.

Fuel pump not working in 2001 Pontiac Montana

It is always possible that you have a bad pump, it happens. If your sure the pump it not working it could be a number of things. Did you replace the filter (if it has a exterior one)? A clogged filter can trigger premature failure of a fuel pump. It could be a blown fuse or relay. What does the engine do when you turn it over? Does it fire at all?
