Question about 1991 Volkswagen Passat

GREETINGS First of all, I would like to thank you for your time. Recently, I bought a car Volkswagen Passat 1991 wagon because I really like this kind of cars. It is so good where it still has all the original parts from factory, beside its technical situation is good. I have small company for trade olive oil, local fat and almonds, and it is registered in trade union in Hama No. 2528 by the name of ALBLAAS. Because I like this kind of cars, I preferred to buy old German Volkswagen car rather than to buy a new Korean, Chinese or even Japanese car. Most of my relatives and friends have Korean and Japanese cars, they advised me to buy like their cars because there are many of repairing centers in all the provinces in Syria. In addition, it is easy to get change parts in cheap prices. And now, I would not be able to have my car fixed easily and quickly. Because of this situation, my friends used to laugh at me and my car. Please, I don?t ask you to fix my car. All I need is information about this car where it could help me to have it fixed. Unfortunately, this information is not available in the exclusive agency in Syria. Actually, I called the agency to ask them about the car but they responded that they cannot fix Volkswagen cars with models before 2000. Please, is it possible to get a brochure for the car?s specification and repairing instructions? Car specification: Engine: CC 2000 GIRE automatic Chassis No. WVWZZZ31ZME314102 Engine No . 9A0887207 What I have problem to fix or change is the fuel distributor. Volkswagen Distributor Blocks BOSCH 0 438 101 039 Volkswagen Air Flow Meters BOSCH 0 438 121 076 VW 0 51 133 353 These parts are not available in the executive agency for VW or even in the executive agency for BOSCH Company in Damascus or Beirut. Hello Nezar, There is excellent technical repair information available at the website 'alldatadiy' . However, I believe the information available is for vehicles that are manufactured for sale in the U.S. Your VW may be different in a few or many ways from VW Passats here in the US. The online information for one car is $27 (US) for one year access to all photos, diagrams, and information. I have used paper manuals for many years, and other information sites, but this site is the best I have seen yet. I hope you can find the information that you need there. Good luck! Curt

2000 passat wagon flex pipe needs replacement. I bought a new pipe. Do I need to replace muffler too?

I just had both flex pipes changed at a Midas shop. Five hours labor and $115 for the parts. My muffler was fine.

It may not reset for 50 drive cycles. It would be quicker to get it scanned by the dealer who just sold it to you and ask them for the code. If it does come back as a small evap leak then they can clear the code and you can be on your way. If the vehicle was left running during you refilling the fuel, it would trigger this code. Just don't tell them that when you take it in. Play dumb and tell them "it just came on"! let me know if you need anything else.

you must remove the inner lower panel on the hatch and lubricate the lock mechanism and solenoid.

Watch out for the hidden screws in the lift handle cutouts.

Get 6 new panel clips from a VW dealer before you start.

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

Sounds like the headlight switch itself... You can verify by removing the switch and checking continuity across the switch (with a meter or powered test light) in the on position... hope this helps...;-)

1991 vw passat 9A 16v 2l B Charging and instrument cluster problem One day car did not start-turn key and nothing at all.(no power to inst. cluster no turning, nothing) One hour later it did turned on and cranked. and run fine. Next day repeated.Battery was dead.When jumped jumper cable melted.The alternator was shorting. Replaced battery and alternator. But alternator is not charging.Alternator tested as good.Replaced anyway, for another alternator that also tested as good just for the heck of it. Still not charging and whole instrument cluster and radio have no power from the very first replacement repair till now. Car will run just fine with out other el. problems as far the battery have charge above 6-7 v. I checked fuses in fuse/relay panel.Did not see any fuse burned. Is there fusible link on charging system or other fuse or relays to check besides the ones on the fuse/relay panel? I there relay that control this? I know that is grounded good. I know that is connected to + battery good. Alt+battery good. There is small blue wire running from alternator?????? called the alt. control wire. I think is says d+ or something on the alt.terminal next to it. It seems that something prevents the alternator to output power. I measured the alt. terminal + and ground when connected and running and all I read is the battery voltage dropping. I think the blue small wire and instrument cluster are close connection to this problem. Unless there is fuse or relay that I missed to check. other possibilities- ECU. -Wiring harness. First- where is all the fuses? and relays to check? fusible links? second -what is the blue wire ? third-instrument cluster involved? keep in mind that everything works besides inst cluster and charging when battery have charge above 6-7v. This car have disconnected and missing ABS and Security . Run grate for about a year till this happened. Rebuilded engine....Clean well maintained.. u4davidatgmaildotcom
