Question about 1995 Chevrolet Lumina

Dead battery even after 12 hours of charging?

I have a 2005 BMW that I usually don't drive in the winter. The battery was totally dead so I charged it for 12 hours. Headlights, inside lights, radio and other instruments work now. However, when I turn the ignition it just makes a clicking sound and nothing else happens. Does this mean the battery is still dead or not fully charged? If it is still dead, then why do the lights, radio etc. all work?

Please advice!

Thank you.

It sounds to me that you could just have a bad connection at the battery post. look to see if there is any corrossive build up on them. this can happen over time. it is also possible you have a dead cell in the battery. your best bet is to remove the battery and take it to any major auto parts store. most of the major retailers will check the battery free of charge. hope this helps

I think your battery is gone it will probably solve your question if u were to give it a jump start. sounds like the battery is holding a charge but not enough to turn the car.

Sounds like battery is fine, or at least o.k. , but there is a problem with the starting system. If you put headlights on, then have someone try to start it while you watch headlights, and they don't dim way down, then battery if o.k. for now. Do you know what killed the battery originally, was it just from sitting for a while & not being used? Listen & locate the clicking noise if you can, it sounds like relay or solenoid. You can try a boost & see if that may help. If it's automatic, move shifter through all gears, then try. If standard, make sure clutch in all the way . Let me know what happens.

The battery died in my 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo an now it wont hold a charge

If the battery is old(2 to 2/12 years) the battery is sulfated and worn out inside. Going dead is just the nail in the coffin. Plus, a discharged battery will freeze in cold weather, allowing the ice inside to bend and break the lead plates inside, causing shorts to occur and will drain the battery after charging. If it were me, I would bring the battery somewhere warm for 8 hours, slow charge it, then have it tested. If it's more than 2 1/2 years old, I would just replace it.

Where's starter located on 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 it started fine ran to store wouldn't crank it clicked but even with jump it wouldn't start

I would start with the battery first. If your battery lost 1 or 2 cells in it, jumping doesn't help. It's like try to jump a totally dead battery, you have to let it charge up some before it will crank over. Except with a dead cell, it never charges up.

My bmw 320i 05 model wont start (no sound) and there is no dead battery sign on the dash board

If your battery is dead enough, even the dead battery indicator won't light. Take the battery to an autoparts store for a bench test/charge first before trying anything else.

The 12 volt battery(LUCAS 065/3) on my FORD FIESTA 1100cc is 4 years old, in that time i have only driven 1,600 miles as my journeys are usually very local. I make sure i use the car twice a week to keep...

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

    Battery dead

Go to WalMart, Sears, Pep Boys, O' reilley's, etc. & buy a battery charger. They're about $25 - $35 for a low-end model. Or you can just get a jump start from someone else (via jumper cables between their battery & yours) & drive the car for a while - your alternator should charge the battery back up.
How old is the battery? If it's at least a couple years old, it may be dying. Or you may have a bad alternator or an electrical short that's draining it. If you charge it up & it drains again withing a few days, you need to investigate a possible bad battery, alternator, or other electrical defect.

Replace your battery when its being tested there not testing it under a heavy enough load. A battery could have a dead cell in it and still show good on the charger. I've had that problem a few times.

most new BMW's the fuse block is located behind the glove box. There should be a pair of twist plastic fastners at the back of the glove box, twist and remove the plate and you should find the fuse box and fuse locater list.
