Question about 2006 Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

I had to change out the battery on a 2006 Subaru Legacy

After changing out the battery on the 2006 Subaru Legacy the security system will not even allow me to start the vehicle. The instrument lights all come on but when you turn the key to start--nothing! After connecting the battery the 4 way flashers came on all by there self, but they went off when I opened the door & closed it again.

Have you tested fuel pressure? If you have no pressure the next step would be to test all relays and fuses. Next jump the fuel pump and see if the pump kicks on. If not, bad fuel pump, if it does fire, then the security system might be disabling the pump. Make sure all fuse and relays are good b

Parking lights will flash when the vehicle's battery is disconnected and reconnected.
To stop lights from flashing, either:
Press remote transmitter “UNLOCK” button once OR turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position and press programming button for one second (see below).
The vehicle interior (courtesy) light and door open warning light (DOOR AJAR indicator) will then illuminate for 60 seconds when the ignition is turned off, or until the doors are locked with the remote transmitter. Yes, the dashboard instrument panel lights will flash when the parking lights flash.
Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote
Open driver's door.
Turn ignition key to 'On'
Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard)
After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button
Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time.
Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.

codealarmremote1.jpgCode Alarm Programming Button is under dashboard on the kick panel by the driver's left knee, left of the steering column. If you can't find it, it might still be tucked up in the wiring harness higher up in that same general area. The botton is recessed in a plastic ring (see diagram).
This button must be pressed while programming remotes or if the battery was disconnected and the lights are flashing.

Its possible, sometimes the new vehicles work with anti-theft systems; confirm with your owners manual battery procedure or ask your dealer.

98 Subaru Legacy Outback While driving, lights repeatedly dimmed then brightened, along with same on instrument panel, followed eventually by loss of power...however, car started no problem this morning?...

Sounds like a charging problem. I would have alternator checked at local parts store. Also need to inspect the grounds. Both motor and body grounds. Most usually it is the charging system that is not working properly that makes the lights unstable then after it drains the battery it will not have enough power to operate the motor. Hope this helps and gets your Subbie up and going.

We replaced the car's battery and now the dash board lights blink

Under the dash on drivers side is the black box for the security system. If you look on the box there is a little red button. Push the button for a couple of secounds and it will click and stop your marker lights and dash lights from flashing. It is a stock anti theft part of the security system. Hope this helps.
