SOURCE: 2006 Pontiac Torrent LS AWD experiance

My 2006 Torrent is now on its fourth set of rotors and I'm pretty tired of this. First set went at 30,000 km, and then every 10,000 km after that. I've noticed the 2008 models now have discs all round. I wonder if this is in response to un-equal braking distribution with the 2006 model drum brakes? I'll be getting rid of this vehicle shortly while it's still under warranty.

SOURCE: no heat 2006 pontiac torrent awd

your air damper or diverter may not be working.this is basically a mechanism that opens a flap by your heater core to control the amount of hot air that comes out. There is a rod that this flapper pivots on and if this rod is broken or the motor that operates it is not working you will either have heat all the time or no heat at all depending on which position it broke at.I know because my torrent has the same problem. To fix my problem they have to remove the dashboard to access the heater core which amounts to major $$$. I hope your problem is an easier fix. good luck

SOURCE: I have a pontiac torrent

Hello Marno.

There are a couple of hundred things that will turn on your check engine light.
The light comes on telling you there is a problem in the system that is monitored by the vehicles computer system.
It will be impossible to tell you exactly what the problem is until the vehicles codes are scanned to find out what area the problem is coming from.
It could be simple to complicated. A loose gas cap to a faulty sensor.
Many auto parts stores will scan your car for free in the hopes you will buy any necessary parts from them. If you are a handy person this may be a good option. Otherwise, you should take it to a good shop to have it checked out.

If you would like further advise on this problem, please ask me here in comments.
I'd be glad to help.
Thank you for using FixYa.

I own a 2006 pontiac torrent...there is a rough vibration that feels like it is coming from the front end...had new brakes put on and the problem still exist

If the vibration is always there and it gets worse the faster you go then you have bad tire or tires on the front.

HI MY 2006 S AWD MURANO HAS STARTED THIS IRRITATING VIBRATION..CAUSES EVERYTHING FROM THE SEATS AND THE MIRRORS TO VIBRATE. I HAVE CHECKED BALANCING, TIRE ROTATION AND ALIGNMENT..BUT PROBLEM PERSIST. DO...

Hm. I had an irritating vibration at highway speed with tires that came with my car. I had the balance checked and it was determined that there was an out of round tire. I replaced the tires, had them spin balanced, and the rims were perfect. After that, the vibration at highway speed went away.

Tires are the most common problem for vibration at various speeds.

Where did you buy your tires or have them spin balanced?

I replaced the brakes all around on my wifes pontiac torrent, she complained of a vibration in the pedal, now with new rotors and drums at high speeds especially when brakeing down hill there is a hum and...

Absolutely; wasn't positive until you mentioned the 'hum'. Bad bearings first warning sign is usually the humming noise before the vibration but since you have both, I'd be shocked if it weren't the bearinig, especially since you've got new rotors. In the past, a badly turned or warped rotor would mimic a bad bearing. Best of luck.

Custom buggy wrapped on Astro AWD

All depends on the 4.3 your going to install. The transmission are the same, that both use the 4L60E. E being that the transmission is controlled by a ECM with the engine. If your running a Aspirated 4.3 and not fuel injected, your going to have to run a 4L60 transmission.
As for the AWD the new AWD system on the Astro works off the ABS system as it runs on 2WD till the PCM detects the lost of traction then the transfer case is activated by the ECM.
The earlier Astro and Safari AWD 1991 to 1994 had a true AWD and stayed active, but was not that great off road since it had a 40/60 split ratio front to back transfer.
Good luck and hope this helps.
