Check the fluid level and make sure it is up.If o/k then suggest a trans service which will have the filter and fluid changed. This could be your problem.

I have a 2001 Souza rodeo goes backwards but will not go towards I got a 2001 Isuzu Trooper goes backwards but no forwards

automatic trans or stick, we cant guess that ever.....
REVERSE OK!
drive, and Low dead. (hot and cold engine????)
so does it slip.?
slip means, you step on the gas and RPM races but car dont move. SLIPs. that is transmission
but of it dont slip that means the engine is weak..
if its slip?, check levels first.
if levels in box are ok (dont guess read how to )
then check shift linkage.
if that is ok, scan the PCM for tranny errors DTC.
if that is ok, do the FSM stated, line pressure tests..

1992 jeep wrangler will not go forward only reverse has standard transmission

does dont move mean it slips

can you move throttle to say 3000 rpm and car will not move.

this is gross slip. or FLare. RPM matters. here.

why?, because the engine must be good, to move forward.

hot and cold engine? no move forward.? or both?

standard means manual transmission.

so the clutch is bad.

my guess is you meant it has a A/T box.

mine has a 6sp, M/T box.

apples and oranges diffr.

this car had 4 transmission options day1 factory build day.

4.

2 auto

2 manual standard, stick.

ill guess at 32RH at (not AW-4 auto) 32RH is a 3 speed.

hydramatic.

levels good, per the operators guide, do not guess, use the steps in the guide, the A/T box is not checked like the engine, at all.

is the fluid, pink (ATF) or black and with metal flakes, dripping off end of dip stick. or stinks, smoky not sweet smell.

???????

is the shifter moving the shift side crank on tranny correctly?

this takes careful observation .

  1. level checks, and lever action.

  2. replace the filter now. was this step skipped for 22 years?

  3. get the full flush no , may be the AFT fuild types were mixed up?

  4. this means the stall test fails, (dont move)

  5. so in the FSM the next test is the pump pressure test port test. called LINE checks, this is next. if fail the tranny is bad.

  6. whats next depends on %5

the tranny pages below, pdf page 71 shows the 1st line test.

there are 5 line tests.

if you can do that, , then find a shop that can.

you will never get to the stall test because the tranny slips. test 6

What causes 1996 Dodge Neon SOHC automatic transmission to delay or slip shifts?

that is a hum dinger, largest ever posted, in one shot.
very good.!
one word , the transmission slips. (never drive a slipping tranny)
overheat indicator.! that is key.
many newer cars will change the transmission shifting any time
the engine over heats.
and overheat wins over transmission , every time.
if the engine burns up, what good is any transmission.? nada.

solve overheat first.

slip or flare.
is when the engine RPM rises fast and the car dont go faster.
SLIPS.
and slipping burns up trannyclutchs and increases the damage. inside the transmission, dont do that. dont allow it,
park it and fix it.

on some tranny there is a temperature sensor that the TCM
watches and changes shift patterns based on AFT fluid temps.
and if the ATF fluid gets too hot , it takes actions. to keep the tranny from harm.

why not get a scan too and see what DTC errors there are..
DTC, engine overheate.
DTC< tranny overheat (caused by above)

Transmission

double posted.
added trans.
so the trans slips only cold> or hot engine.
hot tranny oil , can pass by a filthy tranny filter.
do the 50kmile full tranny service now, skipping service , caused.
at the least.

full flush and new filter. (pan off) is full service, less is not.
at the least a new filter. it may be packed,
the clutch packs make dust , this dust in the oil fill packs a filter.
50k service is a good plan.... dispite EPA bs to the contrary.

Transmission slipping, have to restart engine

does the tranny slip or not.
only you can look and see, got a tachometer or a trained ear?
if it slips and wont go that is tranny issues
if it dont slip and dont go , that be bad engine power.
no one on earth can go from here until that is answered.

Transmission slips after engine warms up

It isn't when the engine gets hot, it is when the transmission fluid gets hot that the slipping starts, due to wear of the clutches and gears inside the transmission.
First, check the fluid level to make sure it is full. If it is low, bring fluid level to full and see if that helps.
About all the owner can do with slipping automatics is trying a transmission fluid and filter change to see if transmission revives and stops slipping. The bottom pan is removed, fluid (about 6-8 quarts) is drained, and a new filter is installed before the pan is replaced with a new gasket, sealed up, and fresh fluid added. Sometimes it helps. Sometimes the transmission is worn too bad to help, and you are left with looking for a replacement transmission.
Check the fluid level first. Good luck.

Our 2001 Kia Optima, automatic 2.4L at 155k miles has very poor acceleration, tranny slips, sometimes sticks at 3k rpm at 55-65mph, we need to stop, shut off car, restart to reset. Must warm up car to...

This is not what you want to hear, but its time to replace or rebuild the transmission. The clutch packs are worn causing your slipping concern. and your fluid is probably contaminated with the clutch material which can cause hydraulic circuit failure.

My 2000 concorde runs great when cold then tranny slips when hot. . . . . ?

Fluid level ok? Check it when hot and car running.

Have you had the tranny serviced recently?

This type of tranny uses the Dextron +4 fluid, any other fluid would mess up the transmission.

I have a 1999 Intrepid, no problem w tranny, but a month ago I put an aditive that a friend recomended. After only about 5 miles I felt the car more responsive and with more power. I also think my gas mileage improved.

I got it at AutoZone the brand is RISLONE Transmission Stop Slip with Leak Repair
it says works with all types of fluids.

I hope this will help. Good luck

How long before a transmission is hot enough to slip

It should not be a matter of how hot, but when. If it only happens when the car is hot then I would check the level. While checking the level, I would see if there is any blackish stuff in the fluid. If there is then I would have your tranny rebuilt because the clutch material is breaking down and could be the cause of the slipage.
