Ok this is what I did yesterday before this happens...I bought new headlights and installed them by myself..by the time I was fixing them to point straight, the lights went off..I checked the small red ones (I dont know whats the name of them) that are near the driver on the side and the number10 three of them were burned..I replaced with new ones but they got burned too,so I attached small wires on the burned ones and tried again, the lights were on.After that I started to fix again the headlights and at the headlights started showing up smoke, happened a (closed circuit) if thats the way I can call it..I found out were the problem was,but after that started happening this problem that I have now

It sounds like your speed sensor is burnt out, or there is no power going to it.

Okay, put every thing back the way it was before you had these wires burning, Pull off those wires you added. Check your circuit breakers and fuses. You may have melted a wire somewhere, but we'll hope it's just a breaker. If not, then you can look for a melted wire. You have shorted something out.

What cause oil burning smells after 4, 5 minutes driving 2001 VW Passat?

You may have a leaking valve cover gasket and oil is making it's way down to the exhaust or something else that gets very hot. Check your cylinder head for excessive oil dripping down off of the base of the valve cover. Check your power steering pump and hoses for leaks. After you get to where you're driving, look under the car and see where the oil spots are, if there are any. If it's dark or black in color, it's engine oil. If it's more like a red-ish color, it's transmission fluid. See where the oil spot is on the ground and check the engine and see about where it could be leaking.

Where do i fill transmission fluid on 2002 volkswagen passat

No fluids are consumed in any vehicle

Thinking something you know nothing about
& the real issues, should be addressed at a repair
shop or trans shop

If it is low on trans fluid, then most likely
the damage is done already, based on your
description.

If it is low, then at the very least, you repair the leak,
not just add fluid

2004 vw passat wagon tdi Reverse slipping out of gear on automatic transmission while moving backwards several feet. After put into neutral and then back into reverse, same slipping out of gear...

Unfortunately this is not uncommon and I hate to tell people bad news but the problem is in the transmission. It sounds like the reverse is not locking in like it should. There is a pin inside the transmission that is supposed to lock it in place when you shift to reverse but that may have rounded off or seared off which would cause your problem. A clogged filter will also cause this issue. If you had that transmission back flushed, the normal method used today by shops that cost around $140 or so, then I can tell you for a fact that it needs to be rebuilt.

On the 2001 Volkswagen Passat, there is one reverse tail light (bulb) per side for a total of two reverse tail lights. The following link shows the inside of the 2001 Volkswagen Passat tail light.

When I try to put my 93 Lumina into drive or reverse it won't go,and you have to shift from reverse to drive to get it to work. What could be wrong?

First with the car warmed up check your transmission oil level. If it is low try to get it up to the full mark.
If the oil level looks good check out the color and smell. The color should be reddish pink with a slight smell. If it is brownish in color with a burned smell and perhaps black residue on the dipstick then it is time for a rebuild.
If the fluid looks good then something is still broken in the transmission. I have rebuilt a number of automatic transmission but not this particular model. I'm thinking possibly a sprag clutch but a broken spring in the valvebody might cause that same problem. Either way it needs to go to the shop for repairs. A reputable transmission shop should be able to find a broken spring in the valvebody and repair it fairly cheaply. Sadly most shops just want to take it out and rebuild the whole thing and charge you a fortune. If the oil is burned then a complete rebuild is what it needs for sure. if it has high miles you might want to consider a full rebuild anyway.

Passat tiptronic problems.Almost no reverse, gear matching inproperly. transmition breaking in 4th gear.changing down when not needed

may be it has something another problem, but at first i suggest you to change oil in you gear box. in most event it halps, because inproper transmissioning is caused from old (not changed) oil. there are two colors of oils, red and yelow. you will have to choose the right one.
wish you success

Below the Speedometer the gear screen is lit up on all PRND432

being an automatic, there is a fault with the transmission. recommend having VW shop scan for codes to see what is the fault.
