Question about 1999 Saturn SL

Engine wiring problem

I just installed a used engine in my 1999 Saturn SL1 and I have no electrical power going to my starter. I believe I have reconnected the wiring as it was before. My battery has power. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks Jason. I'll check tomorrow and get back to you.

    Hi Jason,
It looks like you're on the right track. The ignition fuse was blown so I replaced it only to see it blown again. I can't see how I can change the wires around on the starter so this doesn't happen again. Your thoughts?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE MAYBE BLOWN A MAIN FUSE. CHECK YOUR MAIN FUSE BOX UNDER THE DASH ALSO CHECK THE ONE INSIDE OF THE CAR CHECK EVERY FUSE. IF THAT IS NOT IT REPLY BACK AND I MAY HAVE OTHER SUGGESTIONS.

What is wrong with my 1999 Saturn sl1 IT STOPPPING AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING

Sounds like an electrical issue. Lights usually come on when the car ceases to have ignition but the key is in the on position (like when you turn your key on just before turning over the engine. Could be at a relay in the main wiring from battery to starter to ignition. Check cables at the starter. Had the same issue on a vehicle of mine, the positive lead was loose there. If it's intermittent prolly something loose.

99 saturn will not crank after installing a new starter

you may need a shim between your starter and the block. Most starters are ok, but some need shims so that the teeth on starter line up with teeth on flywheel. Starter is probably jammed

Will a 1999 saturn sl2 water pump fit in a 1991 saturn sl1

I would not remove a 20 year old part, and install an 11 year old used part when a new part is only $30.00. I would not go to the trouble of removing any 11 year old part from any vehicle, especially if it involved removing an engine mount, a serpentine belt, and a cam chain cover, when a new part is only $30.00. I would not attempt to swap any engine parts between DOHC and SOHC engines even if the blocks are the same. Do not put in used wear items as you will end up doing it right again in a few months.

Check the cam/crank sensors. Also, if the car happens to have a distributor, make sure it is not 180 degrees off. If this does not help, then do a compression check. Remember, and engine only needs three things to run. Fuel, Spark, and Compression. (in order of course.) The firing order for your engine is 1,4,3,2.
