Question about 1988 Chevrolet Camaro

Temperature guage doesnt work

Hi, ny temperature guage in my 1988 Camaro Iroc Z does not work. I seen several times on the internet that I should change out my temperature switch. From what I can tell, the car does not run hot, and the fans kick on like they are supposed to, I just dont get to see the temp. Someone had installed a colder fan switch to make the fans come on, but Im guessing this is a different switch. Can someone help me? Where is this temperature switch, and how can I replace it?

Ok, I know this may sound dumb, but Im not very car savvy, Im computer savvy. Im guessing the heads are where the spark plugs are??? Do I need a special tool to remove it?

The temp switch for the fan is not what you are wanting to change you need a temp sending unit which is usually in the block or in the head on the small block chevys most of the time it is in the drivers side of the block just below the head it is a little round disk with one wire coming out of it

yes the heads are where the spark plugs are and just a large wrench to replace it if you go buy a new one you will be able to recognize the old one easily and will also know what size of wrench you will need to replace it.

How do i replace the rear axel bearings on a 1988 Chevrolet IROC Z28 Camaro

Put car in neutral, remove wheels, calipers and rotors, diff. cover. rotate carrier until you see wrist pin retaining bolt, remove bolt and slide out the wrist pin out of carrier. Next push axle inward to remove inner axle "C" retainer washer then slide axle out of tube. Then pry off axle seal and with slide hammer w/attachment remove axle bearing.

I have a 1988 camaro iroc with the fuel injected 305, my radiator cooling fan doesnt work and i just replaced the fan motor. Could it be a bad relay or bad ecm unit??

Well, yes and no.
Yes the relay or the computer could be faulty.
But the computer is not going to ground the relay until the engine temp reaches about 225 degrees.
Since the thermostat opens at 195 degrees running at 200 is normal.

I have a Irco 350 TPI engine that I want to swap into a

you can run this motor carburated if you want by purchasing an after market conversion intake and carburator setup. if you want to leave it fuel injected you will need to swap wiring harnes and everything, computers and sensors you will have to run manual guages for the temp sensors and oil pressure guage and alternator due to your speedo being unable to accept them.
