Ignition problems? I have a 99 Toyota Corolla and just had a new battery put in. However, when I turn the iginition the engine does not always start up. This happens sometimes and it takes a few ''turns'' to start it. What could be the problem. How much could it cost to fix?

It sounds like your starter solenoid is going bad. You can take the starter off and take it to Autozone and have it tested. But it may test ok, because the problem is intermittent. I would still suggest replacing it. 99 times out of 100 it is the starter solenoid that causes this problem.

Key hot when removed form the ignition

I purchased a 2010 Corolla in Jul\t 2009. For two months, several times, the key was hot when I removed it from the ignition. I was told it was due to the Immobilizer chip in the handle. I'm concerned as it happened again in Sept 2010. and if it does this periodically I feel in time it could cause a dangerous problem as cars have caught fire due to ignition problems. What response did you get from your dealer or how did you sove your problem??

De-activate immobilizer of 98 Toyota Corolla

Simple thing to do is have your coils checked.. You should have spark if they are good.. If you still dont then disconnect battery at least 20 - 25 mins see if it resets ecm and alarm. May begin to work properly again..

Corolla 99 headlights

The car is equipped with Daytime running lights so it will always be on...to turn it off you must go in the hood and on the right side next to the engine air filter and fuse box, there is two smaller fuze boxes and the first one going from down to up direction labels DRL left and DRL right which are two fuses 10A or so take them off and they will not come on!

it sounds like either your having a short at the starter or the ignition switch is bad, I am leaning towards the issue being the starter, usually when the ignition switch is going bad there will be no click,
