Get a can of spray starting fluid and see if the engine starts up and dies right out, if so you have lost the injectors, either the PCM is fault (unlikely) or the power circuit to the injectors from the injector fuse is defective due to a defective wiring issue.

Diesel ford will crank but wont start acts like

If you have the 6.0 ltr diesel, then check the bowl where the 2nd fuel filter is, see if there is fuel in the bowl, if not then either your fuel pump which is on the frame under the driver's side in the water seperator/ heater has gone bad, or your filters could be bad, or the fuse to the fuel pump or the pump shut off switch which is located on the side panel at your feet on the passengers side, there is a reset button, make sure it has not popped and press it down, hopefully this helps, I had the same prob.

Try replacing the Fuel filter, if still no luck check the pressure of the fuel at the fuel rail under the hood of the car.

I started it up one day I went in to let it warm up came back out and it had died on me.Now it turns over but won't start seems like it might not be getting gas wwhat do you think?

first of all when you crank the truck have someone to smell under the hood to see if you smell gas if you don't smell gas then check the fuel pump relay before you do this get a can of starter fluid and spray it in the throttle body and if it starts then the relay is good then the fuel pump is bad

looks like you are getting some air in you diesel pump.
whet it sits diesel goes down creating a bubble.
when you start it the bubble goes in, there is when it stalls, and you got rid of the air, then you crank it again and everything ok. because there is no more air in the system.
probably you will have to have the pump serviced to replace all the o-rings and seals, they will re-calibrate it as well.
