2004 Laredo remote unlock works only with a foot or so of car

I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo and the remote unlock fobs (both of them) work only within a foot or so of the car. Batteries in both have been changed but that did not solve the problem. I used to be able to unlock the doors from quite a distance.

Only electrical work of any kind was having an after-market in-dash CD/satellite radio installed, but that was in 2005 and this key problem has only been going on for about 6 months.

That leaves you with the reciever having gone bad or the batteries weren't as good as you were led to believe. If you have a book, see if it lists where the electronics are located and if there is an external antenna for it.

Sounds like the problem is at the other end, the receiver that controls everthing on the fob. Have you done any electrical work on the vehicle? If you have a maintenance book (not the factory manual that comes with it) it should tell you where it is. Probably have to replace it.

Have 2004 laredo that the power locks/windows do not work from the inside and the dome lights stay on after the car is running and the locks do not lock automatically after it starts running? Now car will not start, will not turn over. When I turn key back to off position - the lights and dashboard go crazy. Any thoughts!

The remote keyless entry stop working, batteries have been changed in key fob.

Unfortunately MOST battery operated key fobs are poorly built. Its very common for one of the battery contact solder joints inside the fob to break loose. I've repaired more than 30 of them so far. Check the solder joints and re-solder as needed.

Driver side door lock jammed on 2004 jeep grand cherokee

the key dont work or just the fob?????????????
did you try both fobs?
car came with 2 fobs try both. ?
if both fobs fail, bad solenoid, if metal key works.

if metal dont work, the lock is frozen with ICE, got ICE?(hair dryer fixes it)
no ice ?,then lube the lock with graphite, lube. if key fails.
if key dont fail and you get 12v to solenoid, then the solenoid is bad
I just replaced one that had 1/2 power (the guts inside sol were bad)
$100 part. too.

The remote won't unlock the door locks

Your remote or "key fob" most likley needs a new battery. If you've recently replaced it you may have gotten a faulty battery.

Remote door locks don't work with both keyfobs unless it is in the car

Replace the battery in the key fob and try again. That's the number 1 problem solver for this.

Automatic door locks wont work on my 2004 jeep grand cherokee

There is a broken wire in the rubber casing between the door and the vehicle. Take the rubber casing off and you will more than likely find a broken wire or one about to break. Been there and done that.
