Question about 1996 Ford Mustang
I have a 1996 Mustang GT. My ignition switch will not disengage when you turn the car to off. The car will not turn-over when attempting to start, the radio stays on and the steering column won't lock when you remove the key.
I've replaced the key lock cylinder but this didn't help....What else might be the problem?
It sounds like the ignition switch itself if you pull the plastic off the steering column and turn the key you will see a metal rod that moves back and forth running to a plastic switch with quite a few wires running out of it this is actually what controls all the electrical contacts when you turn the key on or off
