it's under the console--see picture and instructions below and let me know if you have more questions.

To replace the shift position switch, firmly set the parking brake and block the wheels. Place the shift selector in N. Remove the console. The switch is located on the side of the shift selector, held by 2 bolts or nuts. Unplug the wiring connectors, then remove the switch.
When installing the switch, make sure the switch slider is positioned to align with the shifter arm or tab. Install the switch, tighten the retaining nuts or bolts and connect the wiring. Reinstall the console.
After installing the switch, check that the engine starts only in P or N; the starter should not engage with the shifter in any other position. Check also that the back-up lights come on when the selector is placed in R.

Automatic transmission does not go out of park. change brake switch no help. need to find interlock control unit. could it be the neutral safety switch.

The transmission is locked into park by a solenoid activated little pin that stops the shifter from moving. It is attached to the shifter area under the console. You say you replaced the brake light switch, but did you check the brake lights to see if they work?

Turn key on, but doesnt even click. battery and starter are fine

This may be due to a bad neutral safety switch, is this car automatic or manual transmission?

If automatic try to start in neutral and if manual try to locate switch on clutch pedal and use a jumper wire to jump connector for switch, NOTE; If switch is jumped car will start in gear with pedal not pushed down and car will take off so this is just as a test not a repair!!!!!, good day

There is a neutral safety switch on cars with automatic transmissions which operates the reverse lights, and a reverse switch on manual transmission models.
You need to check voltage output on which version you have.

Automatic transmission will not shift out of park unless I use the unlock switch/key also seems to have to rev up before starting to move

The neutral safety switch at your shift lock needs to be replaced. It has been already broken to cause this problem. Eventually, when you try to start the car, nothing will happen since this neutral safety switch causes the circuit loop for the starter is open. Therefore no solenoid click to engage the starter. Part is not expensive around $45, but labor may cost more. Here is how it looks: feb3fbc.jpg
