Check all fuses. There is a fuse that operates the gauges. When you check the charging system, it should read 13.5-14.5. The min charge rate is 13.5. Should be closer to 14.5. If all fuses check o/k then you should check the charging at 2000 rpm. If the voltage comes up to 14.5 or more then you should suspect the alternator. If this helps ,please rate

I have a 2005 Saturn Vue which battery warning light sometimes come on randomly and then goes for several weeks now. As it came on more frequently I thought the battery was dying so I replaced it two days...

If the battery light comes on while your are driving than the alternator is not charging. The battery light comes on to tell you there is a problem with the charging system not the battery. It is normal for the light to come on when you turn the key to the run position and then it should go out shortly after the engine starts. When the light is on check the voltage at the battery if you have less than 13 volts the alternator is not charging.

Battery light coming on. After turning van off, would not start

Your description makes me believe that your alternator is faulty. The system not charging turns the battery light on. The van will not start because the battery is discharged from powering the electronics that should have been powered by the alternator. Start by charging the battery to a full charge, and then test or have the alternator tested.

Try your alternator check it with a volt meter to see if it is charging the battery. Check the wiring make sure there is no wires of or lose or broken.

Why the battery ligh is on

The battery light usually comes on when theres a charging problem, use a multimeter and attach it to your battery and with your car running make sure it has between 13-14 volts on the charging side, if the output of the alternator is below this you probably have a weak alternator and thats why the battery light is coming on, if the alternator isnt charging dont drive your vehical because when the engine exhausts all the charge from the battery the engine will die and you will be on the side of the road so make sure your charging system is working properly, if it is you will have to do further diagnosing as to why the light is on....

My "check charging system" keeps

first thing you should check is the battery. to do this you should buy a multimeter from a parts house and set it on volts. with car off check charge of battery. it should read 12 volts. start car and retouch red probe to positive and black probe to negitive. it should read 13 to 14 volts. if it still
reads 12 or anything below 13 volts you need to replace alternator. also check wires from alternator to see if any are loose.

Electrical power system service required.....ABS warning light, generator warning light, brake failure...car stalled and wont't restart

usually caused by failed generator. Fix the generator and other lights will also extinguish. The car should jump start, but will not stay running without a charged battery. Recommend removing the generator and take to parts store for testing. Would you like instructions for removing generator?

Hi i am working for neavy as a technition we recantle observed an electrical problam that is in a statof a fresh day self is no lifting(starting),once if it is push started we can not find the same problam...

make sure the battery is fully charged BEFORE starting, you might have a small battery drain that kills the battery over night and when you push start it, the alternator kicks in and charges it up enough thru use of the day to fool you

Audi a4 alternator not charging battery--test

With volt meter on battery start car and read voltage. When yo first put the meter on a full charged battery it should read between 13-15 volts. When you first start motor the voltage should go 3-4volts higher then when you first put it on. And then tapper down after awhile. If there is no voltage increase after start alternator is out.

Alternator not charging battery

If your "battery" light on the dash is going on and staying on the alternator is definitely faulty, either the diodes or the wiring. However, if the light doesn't come on when you turn the ignition key to "IG" position - befort it starts - check that the bulb is ok. The alternator won't work if the bulb is dead.
