Question about 1989 Toyota Camry
When stoped the rpm sometimes goes down to about 500rpms than will rev way high. This doesn,t happen all of the time. Seems like when you start it it doesn't want to idle.
First thing to look for would be vacuum leaks. Make sure all your hoses are good and tight, and no cracks. With the engine running, wiggle them around and listen for a hissing. Then check all your intake bolts for tightness. You may have a leaking EGR valve, or a plugged PCV. Make sure your air filter is clean. Try those for a start, and let me know. Good luck.
