Question about 2000 Ford Taurus
It's a 2000 Ford Taurus 6 cylinder with the alternate fuel souce option engine with 83,000 miles on it.
I have changed out the spark plug and regapped it, the spark plug wire, and ignition block. Then have the check engine light canceled. The car cranks and idles smooth and drives like a dream for about 200 miles. Then I will come out in the morning, crank the car and experience a rough idle. The check engine light comes back on, I take it to get it checked and it is #5 cylinder misfire, again. I am in my third cycle of this and am at a loss for a solid repair. Any experiences with this out there problem, any real fix suggestions?
I would check the fuel injector o # 5 cyl... if the injector is leaking it will foul the plug out and cause a skip. the next time it happens remove the plug and check for wetness. you may also be able to put a fuel pressure tester on, if so install the tester, turn the key on 2 or 3 times leaving the key in the on position at the end, do not crank the engine, watch the tester for a minute or so and watch for a pressure drop.
