Question about 1997 Ford F350 Crew Cab

It seems like the turbo does not kick in to full potential. Is there a way to open up the waste gate?

You need to check the pipes that connect the turbo to the exhaust manifoilds these are common to leek at the gasket if there is to large of a leak turbo wont work properly the waste gate on these motors is actuated with oil pressure if the turbo pedistal mounting seals are bad turbo wont work right ethier waste gate isn't adjustable

Are you getting turbo boost pressure, waste gate may be open check waste gate actuator. Check that BOV is not stuck open you could clean with some throttle body cleaner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=govRsNtY8DM

Sounds like a faulty boost pressure sensor or waste gate. I would check the waste gate first. Sounds like it is opening to soon and letting the boost out, than regaining again.

The Turbo Charger does not seem to engage .I was led to believe that after around 30 miles per hr. it would be like haveing a passing gear. Oh yes the car is a 1984 Nercedes SD 300 series Desiel.


The turbo charger has more to do with rpms than road speed.The turbo uses exhaust gas leaving the engine to push more fresh air into the engine thus creating higher compression and more horse power.You should feel some boost above 1500 rpms if everything is working properly.If not then you should have the system checked by a dealer or a good diesel shop.Good Luck!

What type of Mazda, Turbos that wont spin up can be seized, have broken vanes/rotor shafts, stuck open wastegates. Visually inspect the turbo, if it has a waste-gate lever you should be able to move it with your hand. In any event take it off and give it a good once over inspection

16619 -Engine boost condition - Limit not reached. Check intake hoses/ connections for leaks. Check Turbo charger waste gate regulating valve/ waste gate working correctly. Must move freely when accelerating, won't achieve full boost if waste gate sticking open. Check Turbo impeller turning freely, oil feed pipe for turbo can get blocked causing impeller to seize. Engine compact, not easy to access these components.

My talon laggs power..when i first bought the car it was great..off the stop i would gas it and rite at 3000 rpms you would feel the turbo kick in and sink u into ur seat but now i drive it and it just...


the waste gate solenoid could be stuck in the open position causing the exhaust to bypass the turbocharger and not spool up causing the lack of power, so remove the turbo and check the exhaust outlet chamber and make sure that the gate isnt open

Yes it will hurt the performance if yo do anything wire the waste gate shut. however the waste gate is on the inside of the turbo unless you have a special turbo that is not stock.

TURBO NOT BOOSTING


change air filter.check waste gate actuator make sure its open the waste gate.look at the actuator rod make sure its not stuck.there should be movement.
