Do a compression test.it can be your rings are sticking,or a build up of carbon on the valves.but check you have not over filled your oil.check the dip stick ,if so drain some.

What could be the problem when the fuel consumption is very high and black smoke coming out of the exhaust.


it can be something simple like a dirty feul filter to faulty injectors or airflow. change feul filter disconnect airflow and see if theres a change the engine idle should increase or decrease and and injector cleaner to your feul and monitor

I have a 1997 model Toyota 4runner SR5, which I bought within the last three weeks at 230,000 mile but the fuel consumption is excessive and had been bringing out black smoke from the exhaust pipe
