Question about 2003 Lincoln Aviator
There is a problem with the passenger side door latch that causes the door ajar alarm to sound. It goes off constantly which is very annoying on an 8hr road trip. It also causes the car alarm to go off at random times while parked. Is there a way to shut off the alarm system all together until we get a permanent fix? We have pulled the fuse to the horn but don't know how to get the rest to stop. Please help!!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you are getting the door ajar message you don't have to rplace the switch. Just spray it out good in the latch area with WD40. This will clean the switch contacts and make the message go away. I was a former Lincoln/Mercury mechanic and I used to see this problem on a daily basis. This was the Ford fix for this problem and the one I used on my own 98 mark VIII.

SOURCE: door ajar light won't go off
I had the same problem. Spray WD-40 (with the sprayer extender) into the latch of the doors very liberally. Open and close doors a few times. Should resolve issue.

THE SWITCH MIGHT BE STUCK! OPEN YOUR DOOR, LOOK FOR A BLACK ROUND SHAPE BUTTON AND GRASP THE ROUND EDGES WITH YOUR FINGER AND PULL OUT AND SEE IF YOUR DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON, ALSO CHECK THE FUSES AND LAST CHECK YOUR INTERIOR LIGHT BULB. GOOD LUCK!

yes ford has alot of problems with this. the switch for that door is in the latch and you might be able to use a penetrating oil and spray the latch and work it loose or just change the latch for that door.
