While driving, or if truck has been running a while i smell odd smell coming from the front. Has 110,000 miles.what possibly could it be???
Most likely the catalytic convertor
There are a number of things which will smell. Most people notice a sulfur smell from leaking exhaust pipes. In a way this is good, because Carbon monoxide is odorless without the processing of the Catalytic converters which can make a sulfur smell.
Burning fluids- both oil and power steering fluid, and antifreeze can smell as it leaks. Batteries can split and leak acid. Trans fluid can leak and smell.
The main rubber belt, called a Serpetine belt, can smoke and eventually fail if pulleys start seizing.
So there are things that can be visually seen, many take a trained eye. There are chemicals which can be added to help find leaks.
A sweet smell is often antifreeze, sulfur can be exhaust, or acid. Rubber smells like tar and the fluids have unique smells.
If you have been (revving the car/racing/accident/excessive speeding) you will smell something similar to burning oil from the engine, also if it has been more than 10,000kms (6000 mile) since last oil change you should get it serviced.
