Car shudders while accelerating

I have been trying to track down this problem for a while now, my 06 tdi shudders under acceleration unil it gets over about 2000 rpm, it's also blowing out black smoke. just replaced the ecu because the dealer said that would fix the problem but it didn't improve a thing, i've also replaced the intake flap twice on there advice, no improvement there either?

Any mods to the engine? if not try to remove any water from the fuel filter or replace it and make sure all water is out and check intake hoses for loose clamps etc. these are basic steps to take before you replace hard parts.good luck.

First step, go get the engine code. If the check engine light is on, get the code read and it will give you a good starting place for your issue. Shudder under acceleration could be a number of things, we need to narrow it down

smell the transmission fluid and see if it smells burnt, If so the tranny may need rebuilding.
Check the level while your there. To prolong life of car don't make it do that.

Hi I Have a steering shudder under acceleration , when i back of the power the shudder go`s away ( 2007 1.6 petrol VW Caddy P Van)

Had the same problem on my 2008 golf 1.9 TDI. Hooked up to a diagnostic machine problem showed up as injector breaking down. Common problem on golf where the harness on the injector becomes loose easy fix. Worse case scenario you may need new injector not expensive

Automatic shudders on some gear changes.

This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep

Momentarily Sluggish Acceleration

Are you loosing power to the ecu when the car is shut down? most cars with an ECU that controls timing, fuel, or boost can be forced to relearn the car if the ECU looses power (called a "limp" mode). I'd look into this. Also are you getting any check engine lights? considering the description of the problem, this would help to diagnose. Try getting the car started and running normally, then turn the car off but do not kill the power to the car, just stop the motor from running...Fire the engine back up and try to give the car a good stomp on the gas and see if you get the same sluggish problems...my 2 cents... Good luck future auto DIY's
