Question about Jeep Grand Cherokee

3 Answers

Have been getting codes P300 P301 P303 P304 P305 P306 P1391. Have changed spark plugs (3times). iginition coil (3 times) two from Auto Zone and the one that is in the Jeep now is from Dealer, crank and cam sensor (aftermarkket parts).Have had my injectors clean. Jeep is still misfiring. Receive code 300 301 306 yesterday. Drive the Jeep starts out ok and after so many miles it starts misfiring and vibrating especially going up a incline. Could the vibration be that my timing chain is getting ready to go or is stretched? Please help. I am going crazy.

Hi expd, Moe here. Code P0300 means random misfire detected. P0301-303-304-305-306 indicate which cylinder is misfiring. P1391 means no definition. P0391 indicates cam sensor B Bank 2 circut out of range. It sounds like you have 2 cam sensors to check. Is this engine a v-6 or in-line 6 ? If you need a wiring schematic check with http://www.eautorepair.net/ . It seems you have multiple misfires but not all of them occur at the same time. Seems like sensors or bad wires to them. Rate if this helps. Moe

As you say it vibrates as well as misfires.after certain miles of running.this specifies that its the problem releated to timing chain as it gets streched after running the car for some time and then it starts misfiring and vibrating.
get the timing chain replaced at autozone or at dealer.you are absolutely right about timing chain issue creating this both problem in your jeep.
thanks.

The misfiring is due to spark plugs problem and vibration can be due to   #1 check the wheel tire balance weights the should not be over 1-2 ounces.
or  2)can be faulty torque converter , rear driveshaft and u-joints   so replacing torque converter, rear driveshaft and u-joints and doing front end alignment could fix the problem.
as you have replaced the spark plug so ignore that check out other first before replacing.if every thing seems to be fine then its definately the timing chain faulty and needs replacement.

thanks. please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

2011 mini convertible misfire. Started with P300 and P301. Changed engine coil for cylinder 1 and all four plugs. Same issue now with P300,P303 &P304. Thoughts as to what to tackle next?

Do the following take coil from cylinder 3 put in cylinder 1, take coil from 4 put in cylinder 2, put coil from cylinder 1 into cylinder 3, put coil from cylinder 2 into cylinder 4, reset computer, drive vehicle if you get codes for cylinder 1 and 2 replace coils

It run badly when cold once warm it runs ok. I have replace coils. Plugs and fuel fliter. The codes are. P300 p301 p302 p303 p304 misfire help please

Is it a 4 cylinder engine, and all four cylinders are misfiring?

Misfires will set a code when the computer senses a lag in power output from a cylinder, based on the input from the crank position sensor. Misfires are usually caused from a loss or a problem with gas, spark, or compression-one of those three is wrong for a misfire to occur. New coils and plugs, so probably not a spark problem-unless the spark timing is wrong-let's leave that for now. You should have the fuel pressure tested, and see if pressure is as specified. If pressure is low, and you have new filter, probably a weak pump.

Check cylinder compression as a last resort. Your lowest reading cylinder should be within 75% of the highest reading cylinder. A compression test is a good indicator of the internal health of the engine, the higher the compression, the more power output from that cylinder. But it should be even and balanced, lowest should be within 75% of the highest reading.

So, gas, spark, or compression?

P300 code on a 1998 toyota camry LE V-6

I would get a compression test done. The car should still run at idle with a coil or 2 disconnected, perhaps rough but should still run. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I am thinking head gasket issues.

yeah, it is time to replace your cylinder, because the P300 meansRandom/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected, the P303 means Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected, the P305 means Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected.

I don't think it is your catalytic converter because your light usually flashes and a bad cat I never heard of them causing a misfire. I ran your other code it is for a faulty EGR system. Exhaust gas recirculation excessive. You are getting too much exhaust gas back in the system. This will cause your misfire. Go-to a trusted mechanic and have them check out your EGR system.
