How to disable key fob panic button

I keep pressing the panic button accidentally (the depression the panic button is in is too shallow). Even rubbing against coins in my pocket have been know to trigger it. How do I disable the panic button?

The only way I know of to disable this would be to take the remote apart and cover the contacts inside it with tape or something or remove the button. I don't think there is any other way to just turn off that function.

SOURCE: After panic button was pressed, the driver door

Fotolia.com" jquery1313190828984="44" data-type="modal">disarm-car-alarms-800x800.jpg Disarm your car alarm system.

Car manufacturers use different types of anti-theft systems. Many of these systems include a car alarm that goes off if someone opens the vehicle the wrong way. Some cars require you to use a remote fob only to unlock the doors, while other systems require you to open the driver side door before any others. The specific protocol for disarming the system depends on the alarm model installed, but many use a basic set of guidelines to arm and disarm the alarm.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need

    • Key fob
    • Ignition key

Press the "Panic" button on your remote fob if you have one. The button looks like an alarm or a bell. Pressing the panic button on a remote will initiate the alarm when first pressed, and disarm it when the button is pressed during an active alarm.

      • 2

Press the "Unlock" button on the remote fob if there is no panic button. Press the unlock button multiple times if once does not work, as some car models need all locks to be unlocked before the alarm will turn off.

      • 3

Use the car key to unlock the driver side door if you do not have a remote fob. Try to just unlock the doors first. If that doesn't work, turn the unlock button all the way and hold it there for 10 seconds.

      • 4

Open the car door if the alarm is still going off. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the ignition on. Leave the key there for 30 seconds to a minute, or until the alarm turns off.

      • 5

Wait for three minutes or more if you do not have the key or the keyless fob on you. Eventually the alarm will disarm to save the battery from draining.

Key fob wont re set on my ssan yan rexton

I recently changed the battery on my key fob for my ssanyong rexton. I then did the following for the key fob to make it work. 1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.

    2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.

    3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.

    4. Press and hold both buttons on key fob until red light on fob stays on. Then let go of both buttons. Then pressed the alarm button then the panic button, somthing like that. To be fair the button sequence after the red light came on is a bit vague. The alarm was blaring so i was happy when it just stopped.

    Re-program Keys

    1. Pry open the plastic key fob with a flat-head screwdriver.
    2. Remove the back of the key fob and set it aside.
    3. Hold the front half of the key fob in your hand; turn it over so the rubber buttons touch your palm.
    4. Use your finger to gently pry the circuit board from the back of the panic button; set the circuit board aside.
    5. Stick a piece of tape over the metal connectors on the back of the panic button.
    6. Replace the circuit board, which should now rest on top of the tape.
    7. Replace the backing of the key fob and press down to snap it into place.

    Hope this helped.

Key fob lights up but doesn't work even with a new battery

I'm more familiar with Range Rovers and Saab's when it comes to key fobs but if you changed the battery you have to re-program the key fob. If you do not have an owner's manual that can take you through the steps you might want to try: push and hold the lock button on the key fob, put it in the driver's side door and turn to lock. With the button still depressed turn back to open, remove the key and release the button. If this doesn't work check any and all fuses associated with your system and last but not least you could take it to a dealer. Good luck!

sounds like lock button on key fob is stuck or there maybe radio interference around vehicle making it do that? did it just start doing it? if so maybe a neighbor just hooked up wireless internet? take battery out of key fob and see if it still does it,if still does, talk to neighbors and see if any one installed a new wireless router?also you can find out what mega hertz your system is running get a scanner and program numbers and see if there is any interference!!!Also when you take out battery out of key fob try soaking fob in rubbing alcohol and then let throughly dry then reinstall battery(if unit got wet maybe shorting terminals or sticking)try that may haft to reset alarm when you take out battery of fob!!!! :) Hope This Helps!!!!

Key fob will not undo cetral locking or disable car alarm changed battery in key fob still having no luck any idea who can re code key fob to central locking and alarm?

If you don't have one that works for the vehicle now, you'll have to take it to your local dealer to have it programmed to the vehicle. Some will charge for this, some will do it at no charge.

If you do have a remote that is programmed and working for the vehicle, then the following steps will allow you to program another remote:

    1. Enter vehicle and close all doors.

    2. Put seatbelt on (or clip it into the buckle) to shut the warning buzzer off.

    3. Put key in ignition, turn to run position but don't start it.

    4. Press and hold the unlock button on the working key fob and hold for 4 seconds, then also press the panic button.

    5. Release both buttons and you should hear a single chime to indicate it is in program mode. You have 30 seconds after the chime to program any additional remotes you want to program.

    6. Press and release both the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously on the remote you are programming. You should hear another single chime.

    7. Within 4 seconds after hearing the chime, press either lock or unlock button on remote that you are programming.
