Question about 1996 Toyota Corolla
My car started to make a lot of noise, it sounded like a lawn mower. I took it to our family mechanic. He told me that it was the exhaust manifold and I would need it replaced. I scrapped one for the junkyard and took it in. I had it replaced.
About a month later, I started having issues with my exhaust manifold, again. It did the same thing as the it did the first time. I then purchased an exhaust manifold again and had my mechanic replace it.
Then, 2 months later, I happened again. I had to replace my exhaust manifold. My mechanic said that he could take a look at it, but nothing really seemed out of wack to him.
Does anyone know what would be causing my problems with my exhaust manifold?
Sounds weird that this problem keep occurring over and over. Does it crack in the same spot every time?
Only two things I can think of that would cause this problem.
1. Extensive over heating, I've seen a exhaust manifold get glowing red hot because of a bad oxygen sensor.
2. Excessive Vibration. The whole exhaust line to the back of the car is moving around too much or too stiff. The exhaust line needs to move around enough to take the movement/vibration of the engine. I would check out for bad motor mounts and worn out exhaust pipe mounts.
