IT COULD BE THE FAN FUSE OR FAN RELAY, IF THE FAN IS DRIVEN BY THE ENGINE TRY CHECKING THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN SPINS FREELY WHILE IT IS COOL, THEN WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO HEAT UP AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND TRY TURNING THE FAN BY HAND. IF THERE IS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE THEN REPLACE THE FAN CLUTCH. IF THE FAN IS ELECTRIC THEN REPLACE THE FUSE AND RELAY LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD IN THE FUSE PANEL. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. BEST OF LUCK.

IF THE UPPER AND LOWER HOSES ARE NOT THE SAME TEMPERATURE, THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE PROPER CIRCULATION AND ARE IN NEED OF A RADIATOR FLUSH OR REPLACEMENT. FEEL THE HOSES AFTER THE ENGINE HAS REACHED HALF WAY ON THE GAUGE, AND THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF. IF THE BOTTOM ONE IS COOL TO THE TOUCH THEN THE RADIATOR MUST BE CLOGGED, PROVIDED YOU HAVE NO AIR IN THE SYSTEM. HOPE THIS HELPS. PERHAPS A LIVE CHAT WILL CLARIFY ANY OTHER POSSIBILITIES. GOOD LUCK

IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF AN INCORRECT GAUGE READING? CHECK TO SEE IF THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IS GIVING YOU THE RIGHT READING. IF YOU HAVE A DIGITAL THERMOMETER, OPEN THE OVERFLOW CAP AND TAKE A READING. IF IT IS ABOUT 215 DEGREES OR BELOW THEN IT IS JUST FINE. IF IT MORE THAN 225 DEGREES, THEN IT MAY HAVE AIR IN THE SYSTEM.

How much antifreeze do you have in it. You should have it set for 20 degrees below zero. Antifreeze is also anti boil. It prevents overheating.

Overheating...grand cherokee overland - new waterpump new thermostat and it is overheating still. Water does not seem to be flowing through. We loosen up the radiator cap and it cools back down.

It's probably air locked. This isn't uncommon when you do work on the cooling system. Simply leave the rad cap loose for a couple days while you drive. Keep the heater turned on as well. Check the rad for coolant level and keep it topped up and your temperature should settle down. Then tighten the rad cap. Hope this helps.

replace your cooling fan motor relay because if you dont eventually your radiator will explode and this will cause your engine block to crack and then if your fan isn't blowing the engine will continue to overheat and the engine will seize and then you need a new engine. A cooling fan motor relay is around $30.

2002 jeep cherokee overheating AGAIN

You say you changed the fan relay and the thermostat? when was the last time you had the cooling system flushed? you could have a blockage in your cooling system that could be keeping the coolant from circulating..
