First start car ticking noise after 5 minutes it

This is the tappets on the top of the engine ticking cause they havent got any oil yet. When you first start it take a few secs to get the oil to the top of the engine...It is a warning of impending trouble, but it may or may not be quite a ways off...

I have a 2005 model year (made in Mexico in 2004) Rendezvous that starting making a clacking noise on start up on Friday, September 18, 2009. The noise is intermittent. It holds to no pattern that is...

The hydraulic lifters sometime get dirty and stick. Sometime they colapse and always make a ticking noise. If it is intermittent, I use
a engine up lube cleaner. Follow directions on bottle then change oil. This could help. Also fuel injectors will make noise when they are getting worn.

If you noticed any wear grooves on the rocker pivots, it could be that the rockers are worn. changer any that show obvious wear. Some movement of a rocker when not under tension is normal but should not be excessive. You can also check to see if any rockers have less travel than others by slowly turning engine by hand and measuring the travel on each (intakes may vary from exhaust, but should not vary from other similar ones) If any move far less than others it can be due to a collapsed or worn lifter, or worn cam lobe. Piston slap is a different issue and usually can be identified only by a good tech with lots of experience.

Ticking sound from engine

i doubt it is a lifter but it could be. they are of the hydralic type. it is probably one of the cheap plastic motors in the intake manifold. they always go out. a new manifold cost about 900 us.

This a piston slap. GM recognised this problem years ago but instead of repairing 100,000 motors they call it "normal". If it goes away after warm up you should be ok to keep driving it.

2001 FORD FOCUS LOAD TICKING NOISE

it very well can be that depending on the severity of the ticking noise, if it sounds like its coming from the top of the engine, place your hand on it only when you first start it up and if you can feel it knocking slightly and if the noise dies away once warmed up id say its your lifter, if its a heavier knocking rather than a ticking and comes from below or bottom end of engine it may be big end bearing, not good. try putting some engine treatment through the engine oil and make sure you run it in as directions state then change the oil and filter and see if that helps :)
