The 1997 Sebring convertible has rocker panels (the metal that goes from front to back wheel well and directly under the doors) that have five drain channels each.  The sloshing noise occurs when the drain holes plug up and a rocker panel fills up with water.  Often, the water will then leak into the right rear footwell, soaking the carpet.  A quick fix is to locate the drain holes and run a flat (unused) twistem-tie (they come with your trash bags) through each hole several times.  Commonly, doing so will result in a deluge of water, along with spider web parts, leaf parts, and whatever else washed into the rocker panel fromo the rear window.

To find the drain holes, just 1) lie under the car with a flashlight, or 2) sit alongside the car with one of those mirrors that come on a telescoping stick.  Since I don't like to lie in dirty water, I use the mirror to guide my twistem-tie (or ice pick or spring wire or whatever) into each hole.  NOTE:  the drain holes are flat and run at a 30 degree angle from back to front on the right side and from front to back on the left side.

There are drain holes near the front and rear tires where the floorpan and inner pannel are welded together. You can find some pictures here showing the excat locations http://www.sebringclub.net/gallery/v/howto/drainholes/.

I had the same problem and what I did was drill a couple of holes in the bottom of the rocker panel and one in each of the wheel wells where the rockers attach. I have not had that problem since.

Sebring convertible water intrusion

You probably have either a hole in the floorboard or the gromet that seals the e-brake cable is worn out or fallen out. Also a possible culprit is the gromets under the hood on the firewall.

Where are ports for water located my sebring is taking in water somewhere i hear it sloshing around in rear of vehicle after rain..?

drain holes are located in the pinch weld under rocker panel. water u hear sloshing most likely trapped in 1/4 panels beside back seat.if u look under car at the pinch weld under rocker panel u will see an opening in the pinch welds approx 12 -24 inches in front of rear tires. use screwdriver to push through opening and clear any blockage that may be there.

1996 Chryslser Sebring Convertible leaks on left side from rain

Water goes between the front and rear window and is supposed to go through a trough and drain out of the bottom of the car. often the drains along the bottom (4 very small slits) get clogged and water will back up into the floorboards. just drive a flat head screwdriver in these slits and it will let the water out! (watch out about 2 gallons came out of mine!)

Water on rear floorboards

Under the car are drainvalves in the rockers.
these are small slits with a rubber valve in it, located just before the rear wheel and after the front wheel.
These are stuck, You can open them up by just putting You finger or a screwdriver in there.
I had the same problem, causes water and bad smell in Your car.
This is common by these types of convertibles, and caused by dirt washed in there from rain etc.
No big deal to solve.

When it rains water in in the rear sloshing

Many cars do have drain holes that are along the rain wells, or where the rain flows down around the lip of the trunk. If you pop open the trunk, look along the lip of the trunk for what appears to be craters or indentations along this trail. You may have to run your finger along the rim to find them. Many times they fill with dirt, or other debris and get plugged. This happened to me and I had someone blow them clear with an air hose.
