Question about 1990 Cadillac SeVille
My original engine with 150,000km on it was swapped when the car was in a repair facility for 3 weeks because of a miss. The replacement engine has the serial number "*6JU817563" on it on a tag on lower left on block next to bell housing. Nobody can figure the serial number out, hope you can help. Need the year and specs of it please.
It would have been helpful if the cars vin number was written on a tag attatched to this replacement motor..then you would have a better chance of an id..most blocks have a flat space on the edge of where the head bolts on that has a number stamped into it.. thats the block number you are looking for..

Testimonial: "This engine serial # plate is exactly where the Service Manual says it should be,rivetted with special rivets to the block. Changing this plate for a VIN # plate would be highly illegal, besides this engine was swapped without my knowledge, I found this out afterwards. So there are some legal proceedings ahead...I need to know the origin of the engine they put in; it maybe a stolen one"
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

Had the same problem. Figured the worst part was that the blower motor itself was $400 when I got it just above cost. According to the repair manual, you have to take the engine out. F that. I just cut the casing for the blower motor, (very neatly) then sealed it up again with epoxy.
Make 2 cuts that run from front to back, and bend it back towards the firewall. Not the prettiest, but not noticeable unless you look right at it. Blower works fine now, and that's the main point.

SOURCE: 2002 cadillac seville
this has happened to many northstar engines and no suits have been filed and won so far as I know. If you are a regular Cadillac customer that has purchased 2 or more Cadillac's in the past decade I would call the 800 number as shown in the owners manual and file a complaint. The loader you are the better for you. They do take care of their customers in all cases I have heard and seen quite a few in my years at the dealership I worked at

SOURCE: I drive a 2006 dts which i've had for 1 year. A week after I had the car the temperature gauge went to red when I was in traffic. I took it to cadillac, they replaced the engine, radiator and hoses
Temp is going up, well that doesn't mean anything unless it actually overheats, in traffic it can reach 240 F and present no danger of engine damage. If this is not the case DO NOT DRIVE THIS UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FOUND AND REPAIRED UNLESS YOU WANT TO BUY ANOTHER ENGINE JOB.
